Yeah, well posting from here to Canada is a little slow.I sent it last week.Kind of hard to describe that little doey, but if u follow the throttle wire to where it hooks onto the carb butterfly there is a small cylinder with a black cover and an electric lead goinginto the cover. On the underside of the cylinder there is a small silver plunger thingy that touches a piece of the throttle.when it gets a signal from the computer it extends the little silver plunger and ups the idle speed.U can take a voltmeter and see if the solenoid is getting 12 volts to the wire as it should.Beyond that I dont know how else to test it unless u have a scan tool that can read the computer.Sounds like I just need to send u my carb.Lol.BJBJ

Well, I tried adjusting the idle speed, I first loosened it and nothing happend. I then tightened it and after it got back up to what I believe would be the same spot as before it started to increase RPM. But no matter how much I loosened it it would not go below about 2000 RPM.

I tired looking for that little plunger thing, I saw several things that I thought could have been the cylinder but I still am not to sure what it is.

Thanks,
Zac

Has ur carb been off the truck for repairs? If it will not idle below 2000 rpm, sounds like ur throttle cable may be in a bind or too tight, especially since the idle adjust screw doesnt seem to have any effect below 2000 rpm.Any other ideas out there guys???BJ

I rebuilt the motor so everything was out of the truck, the carb was disconnected and taken off. The carb had not been worked on at all though. Now that I think of it I did notice when checking the choke there is not a lot of throttle like the pedal physically does not have a lot of movement.

I got this from Mazda today. The labels are the actual part numbers of each and every part available from Mazda. I thought someone might be able to use this.

Wow tha tis confusing. Its after Christmas, so I'm ordering my weber. I'm too stupid for that diagram.

It's not shameful to be unable to fix a Mazda carburetor, they're complicated.

23-359D is the fast idle solenoid so now u know what u r looking for.And these are complicated fuel management systems at least for there day.Lol.Some of the newer stuff requires an engineering degree to read the schematic.Lol.BJ

Thank you so much BJ, I got the K and N tonight and put it in right away. I will put the heater plate in tomorrow after school.

So Do you think it would be worth it to try and replace the fast idle solenoid?

Any other thoughts here?

Oh I just realized I forgot to check the throttle cable, with what I did to the truck it seems like it could be a likely culprit. I know some of the casing was worn off the cable, like you could see like the inner braided metal casing?
