But some people just put the upper plate straight on the stock upper shock mount, i cut thats all off and welded the brackets straight to the frame...

o so you have them going down than up ...and why dont you weld the hole shut

its not all the hole ,its the combo of hole and mazda 1/8 inch frame, not too beefy, thats what makes it rip,and yup i cut that shock mount off, even with the top of the frame and welded the plate to the frame and the remainder of my shock mount, and then put a gusset on top,so i think that aughta do it

the first pic i put up was not cu up high enuff,so i cut some more

aight, just watchin out bro

all i did to mine is trim the shock mount so my upper-arm will clear...did the same thing u have on that first picture, then i gusseted the top and bottom..did the same to blare's truck....it just seemed like a stronger way, because i personally can't rely on that upper-arm assembly to hold that bagmount up...im not sure what u did according to your post up above, but if you are saying u put a gusset behind that assembly, then thats good...if not, it'll buckle eventually w/o any support behind that hunk of metal or under the bagmount

so you did gussest on top and bottom of the bagmount ...?? and still the frame is able to hold correctly?

I think im gunna gusset both top and bottom on both sides....Is this the proper way of bagging? weld a upper bag mount plate there and have it attached to that instead of the control arm? i always though it needed to be inbetween the uppoer and lower arms, guess i was wrong...good thing i havent bagged my truck yet then...lol

you dont hjave to gusset top and bottom

it depends how you set your mounts up, you can do it other ways to where it wont rip
my5t3ry   +1y
ahh ok ...should you weld that hole closed at lay a gusset on top and bottom so that its more sturdy and there isnt a hole in the frame for it to maybe flex and rip open more like shown

i dont understand what you are saying bro

the upper bag mount goes on the side of the frame, and the lower bag mount goes on top of the lower control arm....we talking about gusseting the upper bag mount, thing with mazdas some ppl gusset the top bag mount against the hunk of metal that used to hold the shock and is connected to the upper arm mounts...what happens is with the lower part of that metal cut out, no lower gussets, and the stock hole in the frame, that whole assembly will start bending cause of the bag, then the frame begins to rip

it all depends how it is set up, cause some people will leave just enough metal uncut from that big hunk of metal that they can get away with it not bending and only having gussets on top...the best way to do it is completely cut that hunk of metal out, plate the frame, then weld onto it
