balcar... Is that a 210R or a 210L. I have a 210R I plan on putting on my b2200. I'm not sure if I can lay mine on its side like that. Do you have any pics of the brackets for it. I got the brackets off of the 80 ford f150 I got it off of. Hoping to modify it to work and not have to build from scratch. I also got the tensioning pully for it to. It was attached to the bracket.

There is a thread on s10forums where someone went thru and tested both a york 210 and a sanden 708. The york was the fastest and put out more cfm than the sanden. They were pretty close matched. Which ever you decide to go with would work good either way.

i would think laying the york sideways would cause premature wear because the york is a piston style pump....

also, what models were tested? i thought i read that the sanden 708's were far superior to the york compressors as far as fill times, cfm, and psi ratings?

As far as I can remember it was a York 210 and a Sanden 708. I could be wrong on those, but Im almost positive.

You can lay the yorks on their side. I think the suction side needs to be on top though if I remember correctly. I think the suction side on mine would be on the bottom if I laid it on its side.

i know you can mount it sideways, what im saying is that when you move a piston from a vertical position to the side, gravity causes the piston to lay on the side of the cylinder wall and over time, it causes the piston to wear grooves into the wall causing problems. basically the same as a car, V motors wear out before inline motors when maintained the same.... i have a compressor to prove this point.

ok, i just did a little research. i was misinformed about sanden compressors. i thought they were setup similar to superchargers(screw type design). in fact, they are multi-piston units. the 5XX series means 5 pistons, the 7XX series means 7 pistons.... im trying to figure out which is which on their site, check it out

Well that answers my question. I wont be able to lay mine on its side. Gonna be interesting getting it to fit on my truck.
