How should I fix my C notches

I had a buddy of mine start work on my truck until I was able to get a place to work on it myself. Well I was looking over it the other day and think I have a few probablems. Here's some pictures of the back.













So first thing i noticed is when truck is layed out in the back the frame is about 1/2" off the ground and axle is touching bottom of C notch. This is with 17" wheels and I want to run 20's in back. Can I cut out C notch and move it up the frame or get a bigger one, think the one I have is 8".
Second, my bag brackets when layed out are about 3" between upper and lower the papper work for the bags said when flattened all the way they are 3 1/2" so I think I'll loose a 1/2" there. Should I cut off and move the bracket to top of C notch, that would get me pretty close to 3 1/2".
Next the bar that goes over the axle and over my upper bag mount is about 3/4" above where the fitting sticks out of bag for air line and my fitting is about 1 1/2". I would like to keep the design in the back, so I guess just cut it off, weld enough metal to top of C notch for bar to clear fitting for air hose about 1 1/2".
Then I have a rip in the frame don't know how this happened since the truck hasn't ran or drove since this project started. Guess I will just plate it with same thickness as the frame. Think that's it for now.

Well you could cut off all the metal on top and the bag brackets, cut the old notches out and put larger ones in and then weld all that metal back on top but I wouldn't recommend that. Alot of work plus theres the crack in the frame. In my opinion it would be easier to just cut the rear of the frame off right ahead of that crack and build a new rear clip.

My buddy bought a previously bagged mazda and he wants me to fix the notch. I trying to get him to do what I did to mine, I think if I were you I'd do the same. Heres what I'm talking about.

ya time to chop it back half it would be the best way to go new steel and a fresh start.

i think you shoule backhalf it... if you like the spider web design then trim that as close to the ends as you can so you can reuse it on the new backhalf.... but i would cut the center bar (the one over the bag mount) down enough to weld to the edge of the bag mount if you choose to keep the center bar. if you dont want it then start fresh and build it the way you want it... but remember measure twice and cut once.

Backhalf it. Its the only way to fix hack work.

Man, that looks like a lot of work!!! This is the first truck i'm doing and not sure if I cauld make that come out right or I probably could but would take a long time. My gole is maybe to have it driveable by summer some time. What about the rearend, how do I get it back in the right place? I'm not afarid to try it but will probably be asking a LOT of questions. To me the notches seem easier.

Relocating the rearend is not really that difficult. Once you have your truck setup in the garage take several measurements (straight and diagnal) as to where the rearend is NOW. Draw out your diagram and staple it to the wall (otherwise if you are like me, you will loose it LOL).

Also note - large chuncks of cardboard are VERY handy when it comes to layin out the frame rails.
