What paint do I need to use to red out my tails? What's the best way to do it? I can't afford to get the smoked euro tails I want, and I've seen some red out tails on some other trucks and I really like that look.

go to walmart and go to the model car section there they have little cans of model car paint grab a can of the transtar candy apple red transparent, stuff up the tailights alittle bit and spray real light coats the model paint likes to run put as many coats on as u would like, them let it set for awhile, after its dry begin spraying clear over them red i have done it on my mazda and my 240sx heres some pics the 240 i painted the center black.

Testors spray bomb paint has no UV inhibitors in it, and they will fade and or dull out over time. Do it the right way and you will only do it once....Use a red candy basecoat and clear them with a good automotive clear....Or even get a clear acrylic enamel and mix in some blood red, just enought to colour it, not fully tint it, then spray that on.

Here is a set that I did a long time ago.

base clear with PPG paints. Hell I will do a set for anyone that wants to ship em to me for 40 bucks....base clear, and lifetime warranty against fading.

And in any colour, not just red.

lol im surprised people are still doin this, i did mine back in 97-98, when the clear taillight thing was huge, i went to the local modeling shop and bought transparent candy apple red paint and clear coat, i went home painted them and everyone said i was nuts for painting my clear taillights, but i scored another set of clears and put those on the truck and kept the other ones just incased i changed my mind, but i still have them and they are dull , they held up good but i will repaint them

so this is spray paint I use,or brush on?

I don't have access to a paint gun either. Plus, this will only be temporary until I do eventually pick up a set of euro tails.

oh,do you just spray the amber,or spray the red too so it all blends in together?

The stuff I used was ina spray can. What I did was tape off the clear backup lens, then the red lens. Put 2 coats on the amber section, peeled off the tape from the red lens and put another coat over the amber and the red together. Then removed the tape from the clear lens and put on a layer of clear over the entire lens.
