Shaved handle question?

Has anyone used the door lock cylinder as a way to open your doors with shaved handles or is that even an option? I'd like to shave my doors but would prefer to have a manual way to open the doors instead of electrical. Any ideas you guys have would help me alot. Thanks.

i would like to do this to cuz i dont like the idea of running electric to open door..

sounds cool, no reason it wouldn't work that i can think of, you'd jus have to modify the rods that go to the latch

I think you would need more leverage both inside the door and at the key to pop the door latch.

You just have a little metal rod going from the lock mechanism up through the windom sill. Its like when you break into your own car with a piece of wire. Just the wire is permenently there. And you have to set up a killer car alarm system.

I wouldnt do it permanently, heard to many bad things about keys breaking off in teh door and or the lock itself breaking.

I ran, well only one electric pop right now, but I use a choke cable routed through the drivers door to under front bumper as an emergency release.

For my pops I just wired micro push buttons to a relay to open the door's and also have a on/off switch that takes a key that will be inline to the buttons.

once I get a popper for the pass. side this switch will be flushed inside the bed and the buttons recessed under the bed rail

and +1 to what elbine said I toyed with it and it seamed like the key would break pretty quick

i use my door locks as access, and have for a while now. key doesn't feel like it's going to break.. feels fine, and door pops open pretty well. i just bent my original rod to make it work.. and it works well.

ya can get a cable for manually opening the doors, for a backup, autoloc carries them I believe

Thing is is that I'm not wanting just as a back up or anything. I'm wanting something to use that is not electrical and is not gonna cost me $300.00. If I have to I have to but I'm hoping that it will work. I think I'm gonna give it a shot and see. Thanks for your input guys.
