i did that on my ranger years ago. i was kind of worried at first about the key breaking but never had any problems. i just bend the latch rod down to the door lock cylinder.

Something else you might look at - without the exterior door handle to "return" when the door is opened, you will probably be able to remove one of the assit springs that are a part of the door latch mechanism. I had to do this when i did the old fashioned solenoids for my doors. Pull the latch out and look for the small spring along the one edge. Removing the spring will help the keylock idea work a little easier.

Thanks man. I'm gonna have to keep that in mind. I think I'm gonna go ahead and pull everything out and set it up before I shave the door and make sure it's gonna work before I start weldin and doin bodywork.

used a hood release cable and a coat hanger .....take the inner handle rod off cut a coat hanger to about 8 or 19 inches and make a hook to fit the door latch hole and clip and a loop on one end cut hood release to fit from mounting local (i used antenna mounting hole there is one on both sides of the truck) and atach it together run cable thru door vents in the front of door i think a hood cable s the best cause it has a tee handle and it is super flexible but thats my .002
