I have tested this extensively, different box placements etc. I have built a few different boxes and have come up with what I can hear as being the best.
Hexorz has identified the problem , which is, how do you make the bass peak in the cab,not in the street?
First issue, I found 2 subs to be loud , but better standing on the sidewalk. so too much cone surface area was trying to create frequency that needed to travel farther to peak. After a few different sub combinations ........now I am using 1 high performance 10"
Second issue Keep in mind the bass frequencies are omnidirectional, placing the subs behind the seat is the easy way out , but, "roll off" from the winshield, a very hard surface just did'nt do it either, aiming the subs at the headliner however, produced better,so , where is a guy gonna put his SUB in a reg cab?
I changed my dash out and reworked the whole heating system to locate my amp behind the dash and the sub I have built a box for to spec using glass and MDF and its not totally finnito but here are some pics of the struggle, and work
This is what I'm doing, and it hits real hard.
I 've installed a lot of MA audio equipment, nice stuff!!
It's important to know that ya do'nt throw lots of money at it you do the math and the testing and you can even make inexpensive stuff sound good!
