Audio stuff really goes over my head. Anyways, I'm trying to figure out my audio system for my truck. Right now all I have is a nice JVC deck I've had for a while thats been in a few vehicles, and some freebie speakers I won at a show that are pretty decent. Sound good at least. But I need bass.

I'm dealing with an incredibly small space, and I would like to keep everything hidden because my side glass is really expensive, and my back glass is hard to come by in one piece, and costs money to get the logo tinted.

So I'm looking at Earthquake's SWS shallow mount subs, because I haven't heard much about the Pioneers, and don't know of any others. Anyone have any opinions on these? I've read reviews, and they sound like they pretty decent for what they are. Apparently they're not as sharp or clear as others on the market, but I'm not super picky when it comes to audio. Here is a good review.

The 8" model has a 300 watt max, and the 10" has a 400 watt max.

I think I can fit one of the 10s behind my bench. But I'm wondering if I should run one 10, or two 8s and put the amp under the bench? Or maybe between them if theres room.

And the other big question I have, is what kind of amp would I need for each setup? This is where I get confused the most.

any amp you get dont look at "max" output always look for "rms" continuous output... also if you want clarity get the lowest THD % as possible ie 0.02% is good... Total Harmonic Distortion rating... like i said the lowest is the best!! also you would be happier to 8" thats 16" or displacement as apposed to only 10" and you could run a 4-500 watt amp with about 150-200 watts rms power and be plenty happy...

Any brand amp specifically to look for? I have a JVC amp, but its 1000 watts, which was meant for the two huge 10s I had that won't fit.

you can still use it, just turn the gain down, like i said main thing is THD and if your amp is 1000watts then who cares about rms you dont need it ya know, JVC amps arent bad long as they are the newest models, 06+

Nevermind I though it was JVC but its Crunch. ?? I thought all my stuff was JVC but I guess not. It sounded good hooked up to my two 10s though.

Does it matter how I wire it up? I always hear the 2 channel 4 channel thing. I can't remember what mine is. Where it says speaker output there are 4 tabs, and the outer two have arrows to them that say bridged. ?¿?

eh, dont worry about the bridged just do left and right like usual, i actually really like crunch amps
theyre made by Maxxsonics same company as mb quart and hifonics. its what i had in my yota... 0.02% THD good deal
