for the dual 2ohm sub you would take the voice coils as coil A and coil B. take the neg of coil A and run it to the pos of coil B. that leaves you with an open pos (coil A) and a neg (coil B). those are your speaker leads. that runs the sub at a 4ohm load. then take them to the amp and bridge the amp to a 4ohm load which usually has a diagram on the side of the amp. take the pos off the speaker and run it to channel 1's pos then take the speakers neg and run it to channel 2's neg. thats it buddy.

alright, so last weekend(i think) we installed (only) the pioneer headunit, and it sounds so much better than the stock one. i pod connectivity and control with a remote kicks ass btw.
new question:
what material do u guys use for building speaker boxes? 3/4" MDF? MDO? what type of sealer? nails? staples? screws? how long? drill pilot holes? fill the box with anything like sound deadener or foam or ? ? ?
thanks a bunch

I USE ,3/4 MDF ,LIQUID NAILS"CONSTRUCTION GRADE" ,ON THE BOX I BRAD NAIL TO GET IT ALL SQUARED UP ,THEN PREDRILL AND COUNTERSINK THE HEADS AND USE 1-1/4 WOOD SCREWS,AFTER THE BOX IS BUILD ALSO RUN ALONG THE INNER SEAM ,THEN TAKE YOUR FINGER AND SMOOTH IS DOWN,I DONT USE PLASTIC SPEAKER JACKS ON BOX,I DRILL A HOLE AND SILICONE THE WIRE INSIDE IT ,AND THATS ABOUT IT

If you're only running one run of wires to the sub, you should go with at a min 12AWG. The biggest difference in power is the actual power and ground cable used to run power to the amp. Don't skimp on these!!! Go with at least 4AWG IMO.

say i get the DVC alpine type s 2 ohm sub (SWS-1023D ). i'd run one pos and one neg wire into the box and wire it like this since the alpine amp puts out 160 x 1 at 4 ohms and that type s is 50 - 300W RMS. for that 160 x 1 rating is that rms or peak do you suppose?

anyone?

Sounds like you got it!
The Alpine appears to be 160Watts RMS. They don't list peak I believe.
