my 83 dash project

i love workin with fiberglass too, my mobile electronics class is gettin a lexus suv to put 4 15"s in and my teacher told me i could fiber glass the dash or an amp rack or sumthin. ur dash is lookin cool i cant wait till i get to do mine

what color are you looking to go with, i think im going to go black on the bottom part and red on top.

i am thinking a jet black on the top and bottom, and it has the chrome strip that seperates the two. i should be done with all the sanding either tonight or tomorrow and send it to the paint shop after that.

i am trying to get ready for a car show in 4 more weeks. i still have to sand the entire body, do the body work and prime her flat black and put a red pinstripe down her.

my dash has already been painted once no sanding or anything just painted crome strip and all and they used the $1 a can paint. it looks like fred flinstones dash.

I hate sanding.
I dont mind it really, its just time consuming to make something perfect, and time is what I dont have ya know?

how much paint does it take to paint a dash?

i am getting mine done this weekend, but what all you need is...plastic promoter, primer, base coat clear coat. i am estimating about a pint of paint. but not sure yet.

i went to the body shop today and asked how much he would charge to spray mine after i did all the sanding and got it in primer and they quoted me $200

damn, even after you prime it. there is a guy i work with that has a paint shop, he is doing everything for about 100 bucks. all i have to do is all the sanding and fiberglassing. he is doing everything else. i can't wait to get it done!!!

ya ive thrown a lot of business this guys way and i am a repeat customer many times but the last few times ive been in there ive got quoted about twice what i thought it should be
