1/8 inch is weak with the weight of your truck....You need to use at the least 3/16 for strength....Using a 2500 pound bag out back isnt bad or wrong but it will be very bouncy without shocks, period. A cont. bag arent very beefy in my opinion, although they do collapse real well, they are real bouncy without any shocks i know this for a fact because of my friend bagging one in the back with those bags b4 the shocks were put on, it would be all over the road...again just my .02 cents....it is your truck

Yeah I should call this my custom frame project, except I'm dropping the body 2 1/2 inches....

We are putting shocks in the rear as well so it should be smooth.

No it's not 1 gusset per bag mount theres 2 for each mount. From the pics you can only see the upper one but there is the same gusset layed in the bottom

Hey man it's a great idea! Like I say I'v never moded a vehicle ever before or welded or did any custom work to trucks like this. So yeah It made more sense once it was pointed out about the lower bar. I guess the reason we must have done that is because we started with the 4 link then worried about the bags which wasn't the smartest thing ever.

i hate to see all this work your putting into this truck and later down the road the frame bends, snaps, bows, flex badly and potentially heart yourself

1/8" walled isnt much, maybe crossmember wise but not a complete frame.

Yeah I've seen what you've quoted bro. You may be right but we are done the frame. I have a budy with a standard cab long box and it's 1/8 for the entire frame. crossmemebers and all. The stock frames arent even 1/8 thick.

your stock frame is a bit larger than the one you made, and also isnt anywhere near as long.

and wasnt welded with fluxcore.

i suppose you live and learn, hope the holes in the weld you took a closeup of arent an example of what the whole thing looks like. usually when people take pics like that theyre tryin to show off a little.

sorta like this

I think you should see what they use in cars that run on the salt flats alot of they're frames are made with less and a hell lot more horse power. Do you really think that the frame is going to twist the truck might have 100 horse power in it and the stock frames twist anyways plus you also got to know that it's a box frame not like most trucks are open C frame. Showdownmerch has done more with his truck than most of us did on our first custom build and for showing off, his welds look great and if you have better abilities all the power to you but don't try and make some one else feel like they are doing a bad job. One thing I have learnt is do not dis someone elses stuff because some day someone will do it to you and you might not like it yourself. I am sorry if I am going off but I really like the work done so far and for the spots he might need help{moving his bottom bars over and some more strength on the front upper bag mounts even I needed help in those 2 areas} it is not on the frame or his welds. JUST MY2 CENTS.
