Welds don't look bad, and you have a good HAZ.

Usually when I do an 8 piece notch, U cut the top filler so that it is narrower than the two side plates, bevel those edges and weld it hot,t hen finish grind it so its smooth.

Gotchya boss!

I'll have to do what I did to the other side so they look the same. Haha, and you seem to be like my only subscriber to this thread!

I've been to busy to get to a computer lately, your making some good progress since the last time I seen this thread. Glad to see you are asking questions, it never hurts. Glad Seth is willing to answer questions it will help you and also other, thanks Seth you the man. Did you pick up that chrome bumper and bed from Spaldings? and what are your plans for the old bed? PM me some info on the old bed my buddy is in need of one. Keep up the hard work.

the notch looks very nice. i like the fact that its just enough notch for what you need. its not a big super pooper monster notch that will come to the top of your bed. nice work so far.

You guys are awesome, lol...

Yea, I'm really surprised with Seth as well. He has been a VERY patient guy. By now, I'm sure he could have written his own book!

I got the bumper, valance and end caps as well as the ranger headlights from Spaldings. I got the hood and fenders and bench seat from Pull N' Save.

I got my 4x4 bed from Whitey's!

Yea man, I'm trying to get rid of my 2wd bed! Not having too much luck with it, so if I can't find anyone its gonna be going to the scrapyard...

I'm not working right now and I've got enough money to tide me over for months if I wanted, lol. Just depends how I spend it haha! I've got nothing but time on my hands, and I'm a pretty patient guy so I wanna make this as high quality as I can get it!

I should probably start wearing my leather upper! I got a UV burn and splatter burns from my mid-forearm to the middle of my upper arms! LOL!

I can't really get pics of my burns cause the light won't allow it! I tried it without flash even... eh.

Yea, it hurts though, lol. It feels good to put on the cold upper leather though!

I'm gonna have to get use to you slammedyota. You are such a whore!

UPDATE!

I've got the 2nd notch done! WOOO! I really hate welding overhead with flux!!!! My shirt is swiss cheese.

I've also install a 2 1/2" x-member on the notches for my shocks! Now I can get rid of the rear one and get on with starting the 4-link!

I like how my crossmember looks, maybe I'll just clear it, lol. Took a grinder to it to strip off what smelt like lead paint! Took a little precaution and got my respirator on...

I think it was a sign post or something that got scrapped back in the 50's, haha!

PICS! Might have some more later, we'll see!
