True true! Gotta love the Altered Images family - never know when or where you will run into another member

Impressive! Been thinking about using this stuff on the underside of the daughters truck. Pretty soon it will be time for a little trim work on the floor of the bed. Your new toy will probably come in VERY handy then.

Immortal, it looks black when not in the sun, but when it is in the sun, its like a brownish color actually. But that won't really matter, lol. Cause your not supposed to have it in the sun! Just be sure you hit it down with like a 80 grit sandpaper or something coarse, to give it tooth so it will stick.

Anyways! I think I must be the only one that updates their truck like EVERYDAY?! Pretty close atleast...

UPDATE! Yayayeee!

I spent most of the day re-assembling as much as I can. Had a little here and theres that needed to be addressed, like bolt lengths and re-arranging things. AND making a couple visits to Ace's for fittings, lol.

I've actually done quit a bit today, despite what I see in front of me, haha.

- Got 25ft. of new 1/4" fuel line to plumb the tank.
- Got fittings for plumbing the tank, bags, and compressors to the water traps.
- Got bolts and all that good mounting hardware to mount the tank, fuel tank, bags, compressors, etc.
- Had to think of a way to get a fitting to plumb the tank gauge. And matter a fact, I need more PTC fittings!
-Got rubberized undercoating to spot spray the fuel tank.
- Cleaned the fuel tank.
- Got 2 new rear drums for the brakes.
- New drum shoes on both sides.
- New springs for the brakes on both sides.

I'm sure there is more, but I'm pooped, lol! I've got probably 25% done?

My optima battery is pretty much dead and now I gotta find a place that will charge it for me! As well, my remote for my alarm or something lost its codes or something from what Car Toys said and now I cant even dis-arm my truck! Haha, and apparently I thought the combo for my valet switch was right, but I'm wrong on that one!

Ingenuity? lol...Talk about mickey mouse.

Tomorrow, gotta get the drums painted up and put all the brake hardward in and all. Gotta get the link bars painted. Not sure what to do with those. I was thinking giving them some color like silver, but figured it was a waste when nice paint is never seen and debris will chip it. I wonder how well the rubberized undercoating would work? If not, I guess I'll por-15 them...

I should the rear end back in the truck tomorrow as well depending on how my link bars go and all... Gotta get onto the wiring and plumbing still.

Whattya think so far? EH?!

looks good now get back to work

Dude for the battery, go buy a trickle charger. They are like $20-30 at Kragens. It will charge your battery over night. I used it on my Optima when my alternator went out and I drained it flat.

Well here, it Schucks, and I asked the guy about charging it and he said that they can't even charge the battery line they have that are like optimas! LOL! I'll see if they have a charger for the type of batteries, but you would think that if they did, they themselves would have one handy.

BTW, Seth, does'nt Bilstein carry resevoir shocks? I'll have to look it up on the net myself, but you said you can get Bilstein, so I was just wondering what you could do as far as that for getting me some shocks?

EDIT: So Seth, I just thought of this idea! Lol, tell me what you think? What if I were to add on a "link" to the upper shock mount so that I could have a cantilever type of pivoting upper shock mount?

Because in my head, it works out, haha. The only thing I would think that would be a problem is that if it is made too long, then it could hit the bottom of the bed during its pivot motion. Hence why I would have to be careful to not make it too long.

I would think that by doing so, when I go to lay out, the shock pivot would get pushed up and also be collapsed. Some sort of limiter would have to be put on it IMO to keep it from wanting to pivot further to straight. Then, as the truck is lifted, the pivot would be pulled down because of the rearend and still allow a good amount of travel. Plus the length of the pivoting link for the upper shock mount.

Not sure how it would react to a bump, but, I just kinda wondered it this sort of thing would work?

LOL, but the catch is I would love it if you made it for me! Cause, well, you got skills, yo!

I'm not seeing what you are seeing, but it is possible to put a shock on a cantilever. Bilsteins are good for this because they can work in any position. And they do have reservoirs.

Sweet, sounds like I'm doing good so far, lol. Should I use a resevoir shock for this application, or will a "normal" shock work?

I was leaning on the monroes, but still not sure. I need to go take some measurements to see what I can build.

Seth, where can I got bushing sleeves and small bumpstops? Do you know?

My inside dimension on the upper shock brackets are 1 1/4", so I need to find some that will fit that. I figured that I would build a bumpstop on both sides of the shock bracket so that:

1. The lower will keep the pivot from kickin inwards and not bind.
2. Keep the top from going too far over and binding.

So this way it can only travel so far and force it to kick out and work itself that way.

Yea, I know, I confuse more than elaborate, haha.

I have no idea what you just said.

I make my own bushing sleeves. Bump stops can come from Energy Suspension or Prothane.

A reservoir shock will get more travel in a shorter body. A 14" body shock may only get 9-10 inches of travel, but a reservoir could get about 12-13 inches of travel. And since your bag is mounted so far forward, and its going to want to get about 16-18 inches of lift, I would probably lean towards a reservoir. But since you already made the shock brackets, you might have trouble finding one thats the perfect length to bolt in place.
