no i dont have a welding blanket but i have some auto body paper if you need some. It may not stop every thing but it will work good enough.

I guess you are someone that I can talk to about this I have a 4.3 motor/trans/comp sitting waiting to go in. I have some mounts that I made but have not welded them in yet, but I like the billet ones you bought. So you say you can use the 94-95 painless(thats the brand I was going to get) and send off the comp to have it reprogramed. Do you have any numbers I can call and talk to someone about that since I was going to buy 02 simulators but that would make it alot easier to get rid of some uneeded stuff.

call Arizona TPI...here is there website .

if you read the install sheet from Painless you will read that you have to have a specific ECM. I do not know the number off the top of my head but it's the ECM from 96 or so. i got one from ebay for $11 shipped to my house cause no one else bid on it. I probably could have used the one from the 2000 but Painless said they wouldn't guarantee that it would work because they made the wiring harness for two specific ECMs. They said the one i had could have some pins that are different than the two that they suggest.

Other than the electrical you can probably get done local like the drive shaft and exhaust.

Right now Jegs has got the best price on the harness you will need. Its for the 1996-99 vortec but they swear it will work on the 2000 up. Here is the link:

Summit racing did have the lowest price but i guess they went up...what the shit cause i live 30 mins from a Summit retail store!!!

Anything you need to know about this swap you can email me at

Well on the motor and trans mounts I have to make everything since it is a stock floor body drop frame. But I figure I will have to cut the trans tunnel and driveshaft tunnel as well. But that will help alot on the info I will get started on that since I was about to go looking for the painless kit in a couple weeks. Driveshaft was going to have to be custom anyways due to the custom tubular IRS we made. But thanks again and I might be giving you a yell if I find anything or see something u might have already run into.
