ok here is what i accomplished today. i found the fuel pump relay. metered it out and everything is fine with the relay. i checked the test connector (wrapped up with the wiper harness (2 pin yellow plug) well i found some chewed up wires 6 to be exact. i got the 2 for the test connector figured out... just not sure what the other 4 wires are. (will get colors tomorrow)
took the bed off and noticed a chewed wire on the harness going to the sending unit. fixed that and still nothing. so i pulled the sending unit/pump assembly and was freaked out a little. the bottom of the strainer was like syrup.....alot of varnish had settled......5 years sitting... guess so...
i disconnected the fuel pump and ran 12 volts to it... no dice. (i am assming that after sitting for 5 years that the pump was all gummed up and frozen. soooooooo
200.00 later (got a new fuel pump, strainer, fuel line, in line fuel filter, hose clamps, and 2 cans of seafoam)
poured the seafoam into the tank and swirled it around alot along with 3 gallons of fresh gas. swapped the filter up front. assembled the fuel pump/sending unit and started to scrape all the rust/funk/buildup on the sending unit bracket and fuel pump bracket.
tomorrow i'll drop the tank and clean it out (i kid not that there is at least a 1/4" of varnish on the bottom of that fuel tank)
so hopefully by thursday i'll be able to put it back together and see what happens. more than likely i'll have to take all day cleaning the tank. i really dont want to shell out 150.00 for a new tank.
ok i'm tired.... enough writing....
