dont pay attention to the heat because we were torching everything before the welds so my hobart 125 wouldnt pop the breaker every 2" of weld, it helped but i dont know why its throwin breakers so easy. Nothing else is even plugged in on coresponding breaker.

I would never buy this sort of notch again but rather make one out of some large square tubing to minimize the amount of welding needed to be done.

It all works out about the same in the end. With a notch like this, no fish plating is required because the notch itself sandwiches the frame. With the square tubing method, if you want to do it properly, you'll have to fishplate both sides where it meets the frame, and likely where you're different notch sections join together. Don't need those breaking.. In the end, you'll have welded about the same amount, if not more. I think this way would be easier for getting everything aligned and square as well because there is NO cutting of the frame until everything is in place.

Not having to cut the frame until everything is welded is a very good point. curently designing the 4 link cross bar and hoping to get the 4 link welded in today.

thanks for looking

QFT! I've got a very similar set of 18" wires. Right down to the same knockoffs... and I just don't care for them as much anymore. The black with chrome is pure sex.

Also, you need to slow down on this build... I feel like mine is at a standstill seeing this thread!

It's cool people are actually checking this out! I only have 2 other friends who are welders by trade that actually share interest in this project. They are the two who have been over the past few days helping me weld and mock everything up properly. Anyways these evening we starting to mock the 4 link into place, we decided against a full cross memeber for he link tabs but rather a smaller mounting location with multiple 1/4" gussets on every side

We have tested it out and its fine accept when fully layed out the upper bar link tabs on the diff slightly contort the bushings. Is this a huge issue? any suggestions?

my suggestion would be to swap over to heims on the punkin

gonna do a x member with a shaft hoop to tie in them link mounts?

you definately need to continue your crossmember that your lower links are mounted to!!! you 86'd your gas tank crossmember, and you need to put (at least) one back in- like mandan suggested. it'd be cool to run a driveline loop that connects it. it'd be strong.

even if there's no loop (which i think u can buy the parts to do a loop, if not a pre-fab loop from suicide doors) at least do a crossmember that'll go over the top of the driveline. like __/.\__ with the period being the driveline and the top of the / \ being connected.
shit, if suicide doors won't build u a loop i'll build u one and ship it to u, but u gotta connect that thing
