im not saying im right or you dunno what your doing ...lol. i could be wrong and my brand new rear main could be leaking. we will see. ill get some pics..THIS MEANS IM PULLING MY TRANNY BACK OFF AGAIN. oh and btw transmission is shifting like a pro. so thats why its reinstalled...i swear i can get the tranny out and back in , in less than 45 mins.
The bolts are open to the oil pan, no pressure but they will leak bad if you don't use thread sealant, blue loctite may or may not seal don't take a chance, I did and had to do it a second time. I used permatex thread sealer and after 2 years no leaks
no the rear main seal sits behind the Flange that the flywheel bolts to. That "disc" with the threaded holes that the flywheel bolts to sits outside the sealed block with the rear main sealing the shaft behind it. The "thread sealant" is locktite. You put it on so the bolts dont back out not to keep oil in. If you are leaking oil around the fly wheel change the rear main.
Thread sealant is not loctite, they are two different products. The bolts don't back out to leak the oil seeps past the threads even though they are tightened.
look at the post above my last one... they have specifically been talking about loctite. The Flywheel bolts do not hold oil in the block. If that were the case then a block on an engine stand missing the flywheel would leak all the oil out. (just for an example) That is not the case. If you are leaking oil by the flywheel, then check the rear main. Having to repeat myself over and over gets old.
