Hmm I thought it was the secondary that cracked open at that point because of the linkage moving the butterfly and opening the progression port that would cause the rich issue. I've been wrong plenty already with this carb though. Should probably read up a bit more. I'm kinda new to progressives in general...
The float floats but doesn't seem to cut off the fuel supply before it floods. Managed to correct the flooding long enough to set the spark timing with the vacuum advance disconnected by setting the float way out of spec. If the new float doesn't correct it I'm wondering whether a holley regulator would be worth the investment over that leaking mister gasket junk or if this carb is no longer worth the effort. I've already wasted enough cash to have bought the real weber from redline and jetted in on a dyno by now. Maybe this will save some poor guy the trouble later and he won't make the mistake of buying from those crooks at weber north america.
Pretty sure the float isn't as buoyant as it should be. Its almost like the float doesn't exert enough force against the needle to seat fully at the recommended 35mm. Funny that no bubbles rise when submerged in water and it actually does float.
At this point I'm pretty sure I have a bad vacuum leak thats making it impossible to properly tune the carb. Funny thing is I had a nice smooth idle that didn't cycle up and down before thisall happened the second time.
