no 1 BUMP!

no 2 forget the 300 oreilly auto tank. i recently tore apart an 89 f150. perfect parts donor truck. the tank behind the axle is 17 gallons. there is also an optional 38 gallon tank available from rockauto for 130 dollars. i checked the 17 gallon behind the axle of my 88 and it fit! just have to cut the crossmember for spare and make 2 new ones for straps, take a spare donor filler neck and weld it in behind the wheel. the filler neck is on its side. and they have elec pumps factory.

no 3 the switcher valve is pressure regulated meaning pressure from the tank pump switches from tank to tank. the switch in the dash controls which tank has power, plus switches the gauge. only down side is the ford sender will be backwards on the mazda gauge. a full tank will read E and go up to full as the tank empties

great news. do you have any pics?

unfortunately i dont have the tank in yet. i have everything to do it minus a elec intank fuel pump for the mazda tank. the time is what gets me

can you just "reverse polarity" for a fix for the gauge?
sfls1   +1y
That is a good question. May have to look into that. never thought of that. the gauge was the least of my worries though.

if you could take pics when you do the install that would be great. i'm having a hard time picturing it.

Do you goto the junkyard much? if so take a peak at a late 80s early 90s ford or chevy with dual tanks. one mounted frame rail one mounted behind the rear end. the tank and the valve are off an 89 f150 worst thing is mounting the rear tank and welding in a filler neck on the outside of the bed

Just a thought here........you know, you could have 50 gallons of fuel sitting in tanks on your B truck by doing this, but if ya have a flat, and you don't have a spare tire because the fuel tank is there instead.......your not going to go very far down the road!
Something to think about, I guess.
