I will start researching all of the MS forums and do my homework with it. it seems like something id really like to upgrade to. how is reliability? this truck is my daily and only vehicle I have.

One other thing I had to do after installing the larger injectors was regap my spark plugs to .35, at anything over 10 psi I was getting spark blow out

if you end up going to wasted spark, i ran a stock ihi turbo, with a stock used ford escort coil pack (from an edis system) at 14psi, never had a spark issue. i daily drove my truck for 3 months, thrashing it hard every day. i went through 14 sets of rear tires that summer, over heated about 3 times (donuts for 5 mins full throttle lol). only once had a wire break off my tps and put me into flood clear mode (told the MS a full throttle signal, which at crank rpm turns off the fuel injectors). that was the only issue i ever had with my MS system, which was my fault anyways.

i also never got my PWM idle control working, just set the throttle plate to a good warm idle, and let it warm up for 1min before going anywhere cold. it ran beautifully tho, even tho i was never nice to it. my build is on mazdatrucking

pm'd you dealwithit

hows your megasquirt research going? any new stuff on the truck?
cory_watson   +1y
still reading on MS every chance I get. nothing new with the truck just driving it. my next purchase will probably be a fuel management unit to hold me over until im able to afford the megasquirt and the down time.

I believe a FMU will help my situation out since I have to run such low fuel pressure at idle. at 16psi boost my a/f is around 12.0-12.5, I would like to be able to get it around 11.0-11.5

hmmm 12-12.5 should be the happy point really, unless your fighting off ignition advance at the same time.

it probably is. if I hold boost more then lets say 5 seconds or so it starts to lean out to around 13.5. and I would also like to run more boost. my goal is around 20psi

oh yes thats starting to get into the danger zone. do you have any idea what your timing is doing as you accelerate? i think your running an NA ecu correct? if thats the case your ignition keeps advancing as you increase your rpms, which your supposed to retard as the boost starts to come on. im amazed actually that you dont ping like crazy when your up in boost. i ran about 35* i think up to the point of boost then it backed down to about 20* when in boost and any higher and i would get pinging.

yea I run a na ecu and a stock vacuum advance distro. I have the vacuum advance unhooked and the set a few degrees retarded from factory. my ecu controls fuel only no timing what so ever. that's why im so lost about doing megasquirt to control fuel and timing.
