They limit the travel, and follow the desert style theme. They will keep the shocks from overextending, as well keep the drive shaft from hitting the cross member when over lifted or put up on a lift. I wanted to keep a limited amount of travel on the truck since it has a 2-piece drive shaft, and if the suspension arc becomes too great they commonly tear the rubber bushing the carrier bearing is mounted on. The way this suspension is set up it has a total of a 1" arc, which the mount can easily handle. I also wanted to keep a soft smooth, close to stock ride quality, so the bags are mounted on a large ratio. This means they could lift well over the 9 inches I wanted, but with Slam bags, they get rapidly stiffer once they pass their static load point (the way it sits without a load on it). So the suspension only uses about the first 3/4 travel of the bag, which is the softest part. So it will ride virtually the same at all heights of travel. If only I could have talked him into Bilsteins, the ride would be much better. But I feel this will provide a nice ride that could be comfortably daily driven.
