Weber on an automatic trans question

I've got a few questions for you guys.

My Weber 34/34 should be here tomarrow, so I thought I would go ahead and start removing the stock crap. I have an automatic trans. and I see some wires coming out of it. What are these wires for? I was under the assumption the trans was controlled by vaccuum. What are these wires for, and what do I do with them? To me it would seem that by removing the factory "computer" would screww with the way the trans. shifts and functions.

What all can be removed from the fender, vaccuum wise? Everything?

The stock electric choke on my truck looks to be getting power from the alternator, seems strang to me. Can I hook the new choke to this wire?

Last question for now, where is this little computer located? I have looked under the dash, removed the glove box, and removed both kick panels, I don't see it. If I can't find it, I'm going to cut wires at the firewall, or just leave them in the engine bay.

The computer should behind the pass side kick panel, should be silver and held in by two or three 10mm bolts. I not sure about the carb auto trans question. I will be doing that this soon and I am curious too.

A friend and I think the wires are for temp sensors, or pressure switchs, or maybe level sensors? Not sure though. But he came to the conclusion I did, leave the wires and computer intact until someone who has done this swap with an auto trans, or we find the truck runs and shifts with the webber, then start removing wires until they are all gone or the trans starts acting up.

I have an Auto tranny and a weber 32/36. I have no stock computer, nothing on the inner fenders, no wires plugged into the tranny, not even the reverse lights, lol. Everything runs and drives like stock except for the kickdown switch. It is one of those plugs. The only thing I loose without having this hooked up is a downshift when I stomp on the gas. Which I never do. My Mazda, especially with an Auto tranny, barely gets out of its own shadow. It does still downshift when going uphill and things like that because of the vacuum control. You can ditch all the vacuum lines in the engine compartment except the one going to the distributer and the one going to the tranny. You can also get rid of the entire engine control harness and computer (located high in the pass. side kickpanel). Your EGR light will come on, but I just pulled the light out of the cluster.

OK, so you say I can unplug all the wires coming from the trans and everything will fine? I'm with you on the downshifting thing, I can stomp the gas to the floor and it won't downshift. I can get out and run the quarter faster then my truck can drive it. LOL.

Itll run fine. You dont need to unplug anything from the trans though. The wiring from teh computer isnt connected to the transmission.

OK, We'll see what happens. The truck should be running friday night, and road tested saturday.

Just checked the tracking on UPS, my carb is enroute from kansas city to omaha, then omaha to columbus, I will have it tomarrow when I get off work. yeah baby!

yeah, I should ad. The reason I never bothered plugging any wires in is because I swapped from a 5 speed to an auto. The plugs didn't match up, so I run it how it is without any trouble. If you had a perfectly working auto tranny and wireing, you could probably just leave all the tranny wires connected, at least if they weren't connected to the wiring harness that goes away with all the crap on the pass. fender.

I have a weber and an auto tranny. My headers just came in last night so I should be starting her up this weekend. I took out all my emissions crap. I pluged all the wires for the tranny back cause I didnt know what they were for. cant really see them anyway so I just left them. theres only one vacuum hose on the rear of the intake manifold that needs to be connected to the tranny. The other two vacuum lines will be for the brake booster and the dizzy. I didnt know if the tranny had connections with the ecu so I thought Id cut the rest off little at a time after I get the truck started.

I just don't want to go removing the computer only to find that my trans. won't shift or doing something crazy like that.

BTW, yur engine looks good.
