You wont run into that problem if you remove the computer. Ive done it, it wont affect the trans.

Is the kickdown switch under the dash? Wanna make sure I dont cut that wire just in case I need to overtake a moped! LOL! I cant wait till I start her up to see what kind of difference the weber and header combo makes with the auto trans.

I removed the last of the vaccuum lines today, and started tearing into the computer removal process. I have seperated the wires for the wiper motor, but ran into a minor problem, I even took a picture of the wires in question. Some of the wires coming off of the computer head off towards the drivers side under the dash, what do you do with these? What do they control? If they are for idiot lights or the temp guage, that's ok. I'll just remove the bulbs or add an aftermarket temp guage.

My hand is holding the wires in question. The computer would plug into the wires hanging on the outside of the fender, and like I said above, these few wires are connected to the computer, and ru under the dash.

The only wires that I kept were the ones going from the wiper motor to a plug under the dash that controls the wipers.

the a/t operates by vacuum, but the overdrive is electric.I have a Weber and an A/T and no problems.I did keep the black cannister on the pass.side fenderwell cause it filters fumes from the tank and I didnt want to smell gas.bj

I decided to get the running running first, then deal with the wires. The truck started right up, I was amazed. While the truck was running I clipped each in question until the harness was gone, then I taped the wires up. After some tuning the truck runs awsome. Still might need some fine tuning, sometimes it "booges down" off idle when going WOT. Gave some timing, adjusted the idle speed, and idle mixture. I don't see any mixture screws? Still have adjust the "fast idle".

A couple things that blew me away has to do with the way the tranny shifts. Cruizing along at 35 I can stomp the go fast pedel and it will down shift. Someone on here said it won't do that anymore. Also at WOT the trans used to shift at 3500 rpm, now it will run up to 5500 rpm. The trans acts like a totally different trans now.

One other thing I have to get used to is the "light" gas pedal. I'm used to using alittle force to push it, but it's very easy to over do it. Engine has alot more bottom end power. So far I'm very pleased.

Thanks everyone for your help, very appriciated.

I said mine doesn't down shift because I swapped from a 5 speed and never installed the kickdown switch.

IC, I forgot about you swaping trans. My bad.
