Only update from this weekend. Got a ka24de. The motor so heavy only a backhoe can lift it.

This one will be built for boost.

Good job SR. I am a firm believer in function must follow form.

In other words if you gonna spend the time and money to build an aggressive vehicle, then you'd better build some back bone in it or it will get laughed at by everyone that pass's you.

I had my first real Mustang about 20 years ago. It was an 88 LX hatch with a 4 cyl.

Well, I bought a "Mach 1" hood, and a Saleen rear wing, and every time I drove it anywhere people tried to race me. I got tired of it, and built a mild 302 for it, and it was MUCH more fun after that. Charles Atlas was right, it does get old getting sand kicked in your face.

Be sure and tell us how the turbo build goes.

Well its always been the plan. Around 350 to 375 whp with a sub 2400lb truck wont be anything to laugh at.

The motor in my truck now is a ka24e. Single overhead cam 3 valve per cylinder. 2.4l inline 4. The motor I got yesterday is an evolution of the same motor. Just updated with a dual cam head and 4 valve per cylinder. Thee motor was first put in the nissan hardbody trucks. The 240 sx motor is different in the fact its fuel injected and has a full crank girdle.

Factory it has forged crank and rods. Drop in some forged low compression pistons and you have a pretty damn stout bottom end.

Since it was designed as a truck motor it has an undersquare bore vs stroke. So you don't have a high revving engine but you do have lots of torque.

The challenge for me is to get the turbine spooling early, so ill be building a twin scroll manifold. I'm also gonna make an experimental sandwich plate that goes between the turbine housing and the manifold. It will be used since I cannot afford a true twin scroll turbo. The sandwich plate will have something. that looks like a sharks fin in it. It will be a
divider to keep 2 cylinders exhaust separate from the other 2.

The effort is to keep the velocity of the exhaust very high to spool the turbine as early as possible. If each pulse was allowed to open up in the turbine inlet you would loose velocity and pressure. Ill be using a cheap Hong Kong special turbo for now.

Well Im happy with the ones I got. They are just a tad taller but the wheels and tires still look tiny in my huge wheel openings.

Well here is an update I guess, not much of one though.

Ive been riding this alot to get back into shape. Something about a 14k redline I love.

If your looking for a cheap, but reliable turbo, then check out one from Masterpower.

From what I have read on the turbo forums, people who are using them, until they can afford a better turbo, say the MP turbo's are holding up very well.

Now there are some cheap ebay turbos to stay away from. Do a search of the site in the link above to find out which ones to stay away.

How do you match turbo size for your engine?
