I just capped off the line leading back and nixed the idea of a vented gas cap. its had like an 1/8th of a tank in it since being parked after i bought it. Haven't had any problems out of it, but then again i never drive it. The only reason; besides it heating up and expanding; that i can think of to get a vented gas cap would be if the pump starts to create a vaccum in the tank not allowing fuel to reach the carb.....but im not sure on that one. Would def cap the line in the engine compartment thou.

Yea, i just couldn't see leaving the logo on it. And even if an old z71 center cap would fit, it wouldn't look right.

Yea ive noticed there are quite a few people on here from the carolina's; and thnx for having me.

Well a little update, had time to finish the other 4 center caps today. Got the primer, sealer and clear saturday, hopefully will get the base tommorrow. Still have to prep rims so with any luck ill have them shot before the weekend.
( oh, and sorry for the useless post w/o pictures )

Well a little update somewhat. Got the BBS Gold paint yesterday........rediculously priced; anyhow started to get the rims prep'd and these things are seriously pissing me off. My thinking was that since they came off of a fairly newer vehicle, that the brake dust and grime on the inside of the wheel wouldn't be to big of a match for some allbrite....... was wrong. Have been using a red 3m scuff pad which seems to pull it off extremely slowly. Any ideas? Ready to throw in the towel and scratch the hummers altogether.

hmmm....why does it say 6/30/11 when it was mixed yesterday? odd.

Was thinking about what else could be done to get rid of this grime and i had an idea but not very familiar with the process. Will mediablasting with maybe bakingsoda or something of that nature do the job without pitting or eating away at the alloy like im thinking sandblasting would?

All i can say is maybe start with some scuff pads that are more abrasive than what your using and work your way to the smoothest grit(cheapest option)

Im gonna have to look into that. The only scuff pads ive ever used are the red ( =220g ) and grey ( =400g ) and ive heard of a white one, but think that is less abrasive than the others. Maybe an ol'regular green one maybe? IDK. I did just email a guy at a local powder coating company to see how much he would charge to plastic bead blast them. If its not to rediculous i might just go the easy route to avoid the headache and save a bit of time. Thnx for the input.
