Pulled the engine tonight... no pics.. it was dark by the time it came out.. looks like someone put a new clutch in it... tooo bad they installed it backwards! WTH??? probably going to have to replace it.. as the springs rubbed the flywheel bolts and are chewed up... to bad the disc itself looks brand new.

I will get pics another day when its day light.. Rear seal is pouring and I think the pan was leaking too.. so now its time to start degreasing cleaning.. order parts and stuff..

wow how do you install a clutch backwards?

I have never seen anything like it. Surprised it didn't make tons of noise.. I hope to get some pics tonight. Cleaned up last night started stripping engine down, going to put a timing belt, water pump, fix oil leaks etc while it's out.. and repaint.. green and purple aren't me.. Plus I can powder coat small things at work free as long as I don't want perfect and want black. So brackets etc... I hope to powder coat.

Atkins Rotary sells mostly all Factory Mazda parts he also has non OEM stuff too .

Some people buy on ebay you can get a whole engine rebuild kit incl pistons for like $350 .

I mostly buy from Carquest they have good stuff, that and the lady that works there hooks us up so I'm a little biased.

Yours doesn't look like it leaks too bad. You mind snapping photos of the seals you do replace? Mine has more oil outside the motor than in it but I have no way to pull it where I am and i's like to see if I could get to them while the motor is in the bay on a weekend.

I am sorry.. I havent been on lately.. finally found a few minutes to work on the truck and post up some results.. The biggest leaks on mine were rear main seal and oil pan.. I will take some pics when I can but do not have any right now... the rest of the engine wasnt bad.. valve cover was minor.. oil pan was minor... rear main was terrible.

BTW - as for the rear seal or oil pan I dont think you can do these in the engine bay.. you would have to pull the transmission to do the rear main, and it seems that you could find a place to pull the engine easier.
