Ok.. well I found some time this weekend.. took some parts to work and sand blasted them clean... brought them home and started painting them up.. no more green and purple.. the color is burnt orange/copper.. looks VERY orange in these pictures but isnt in person.. anyways.. small update, hope to sandblast the remaining parts and start reassembly over the next week or so..then on to trailer fenders...

This isnt a show truck.. just a driver.. this is rattlecan with clear coat.. I have done this before with good results for many years.. its all a matter of prep.. 1-2 coats of primer.. 3 coats of color.. 1-2 coats of clear.. I havent prepped everything perfectly like the fan cause longterm is switch to electric.

Thanks. I'm sure my rear main is bad, I'm guessing most the other oil is coming from my front main. I'll have to see if I can't find a time and place to pull the motor.

Do our distributors haver an o-ring to prevent oil seepage? I've got a lot of build up towards the base of my distributor but I can't seem to find an o-ring anywhere for it.

Btw - color change looks good

There is an oring. I will try to get a picture. If you decide to pull it you must be able to mark position or find tdc on #1 to put it back.

Tonight I installed the new rear main seal and gasket.. the two new oil pan gaskets.. buttoned it back up.. forgot to take a pic of the rear main.. but here is the one of the distributor.. the black line is he oring.

Thanks for the pic. Where did you get your seal kit and did it include a new o-ring for the distributor?

No Seal Kit for me.. that is the original seal.. it wasnt leaking.. I plan on reusing.. I just ordered the seals I needed individually from local parts house.

Ok... caught a break in the work and basically spent the entire weekend working on trying to get the engine back together.. still have to clean, weld, and paint the engine bay.. but the engine looks ok for rattle can, primer, color and clear.. I decided on a project name... project "Get By" cause thats how it is.. I don't have a shop, a big budget and not really planning on it being a show truck.. just a driver.. so inspired by the new Everlast song.. "Get By".. saw a little love this weekend..

New rear main seal, new oil pan and windage gaskets.. new timing belt, waterpump, intake gasket, lots of paint.. New cap, rotor button and wires to come..

Gratuituous pics below..
