fuel filter is changed, i took a look at the pcv valve, and its good to go. theres a screen that was inside the air box. that was covered in oil. so i cleaned that. took a look at the carb and it looks like it was changed recently, same with the egr valve, truck still runs like shit, it has trouble starting. but i think its the timing. going to a shop in about 30 mins to have them check my timing since i dont have a place of my own to do it. also im getting a new exhause system tomorrow from the headers back.

Awe man I just got 4 new on my truck too, got some Goodyear eagle RS-A's haHA. What you put on yours man and what kinda muffler you putting on? I'm gonna get a magnaflow round style with a 4" tip and probably get 2" piping and keep the bends to a minimum

ok so i was headed out to my mazda this morning to head over to get my new exhaust system installed. i went to start it and the thing just turned over. So i pumped the pedal s few times to get some fuel into the carb. still just turned over. the only way this truck would run is if i had the pedal to the floor, even then it would only sputter at 600 rpms. the truck was running fine yesterday, but it has started having trouble starting.... any ideas?

Try pulling off the air filter to get to the carb and try manually reving it. To see if its a connection problem

I need someone here, the truck won't stay running if my foot is on the throttle. It's either my fuel tank or somethin with the ignition system

Plans for this weekend, dropping the fuel tank, putting in a new fuel sending unit, also going to check for clogged fuel lines while the tank is off. I also noticed that a majority of the valve cover bolts have been snapped off so I will try and remove what's left of them and replace them all. Also wanting to get rid of all the vacuum lines and egr tubes that run from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner. Has anyone done this before and do you guys have any advice on this? I'm planning on changing out the air box with a smaller 4 inch air filter to clean things up a bit. Any advice guys? Thanks!

I may have found my issue, I think this truck has a fuel injected distributor on it. When I did the tune up I bought a new rotor button for the carbureted motor, but it wouldn't fit on my dizzy, so I figured the guy grabbed the wrong part, turns out he didn't. I may have the wrong dizzy on my truck. The firing order on the distributors is 1,3,4,2 starting from the 9 o'clock position. So #1 is at 9 o'clock, 3 is at 12, #4 is at 3 and #2 is at 6 o'clock. Well the wiring my truck has is 3,4,2,1 starting at the 9 o'clock position on the distributor cap. So early this morning before work I put the wires is the right spot on the distributor cap. Whet to start.... And nothing not a damned thing happened. So I switched the words back and would t u know it... It fired right up. Any ideas? I am going to be getting a distributor for it today, could this be causing a lot of my problems?

Man what a great weekend! Despite the crappy weather I worked on the Mazda for a bit. I swapped out dizzys and wouldn't ya know it, she fired right up. No excessive cranking, sputtering, or hesitations. Going to throw the new cat on today and take it for a spin around and see if it's havin any more issues. Also picked up a clean set of 18" infinity chrome wheels for $400. I'll post pics up later...
