Cool, another Mike...lol!
Word around the shop is that the hydraulic load leveling system usually fails at the nitrogen bags. They maintain the pressure in the shocks. You'll know it's those if the back axle feels like it has no suspension travel at all. Since in your picture the ass end seems to be of proper height, I'm guessing this is your problem. The pump is very stout and unless it was run dry for a long time, it should be fine.

PM me your VIN and I will get an estimate for you for the belt, tensioner and cap.

We can swap phone #'s there too and we can text about parts or advice for quicker response if you want. But I'm sure the guys here would enjoy watching this go down

Well some more research seems to back up my original power claim, 187 horse at peak condition. I fired it up today, to try to find my fuel leak. Turns out that it wasn't fuel leaking, but water from the compressor for the suspension So I took it out for a drive on the road, battery in the back seat with jumper cables and everything. Man this thing pulls like a non-b truck! No videos yet, but a pic of me giving Andy a bath.

I'm going to go out and start getting some disposable parts, such as belt, brake pads, wiper blade, oil change setup, etc etc.

Drove it around a bit last night, it sure is a fun little car to drive on windy roads! Found out that the speedo is 5mph fast at 3 different tested speeds. I gotta find out why this is, don't even know if it is mechanical or electronic.

Also, probably the bad gas in the tank that I am trying to burn off (got 9 gallons of bad mixed with 9 gallons of fresh premium) but I notice a hesitation at lower power bands (1000-2000 rpm.) I put about 40 miles into this tank, on an engine that gets approx 18mpg city on a 70L tank (18.49 gallons.) At this rate I need to put on 332 total miles, got over 290 left.

I also gotta find out what all of my SLS is busted, going to try to find a gallon container of type 46 hydraulic fluid (no point in spending $15 for a quart of Mercedes fluid since I know I have a leak or bad component someplace.) Also have an ABS warning light on, don't know what that is about but I'll figure it out somehow.

Oh...Crap.
That was your buddy...
Man that situation is so damn messy I can't even comment on that. He was a Benz guy too?
Nothing good about that story. Nothing at all..
Sorry Mike.

major benz guy. Andrew was, in a nutshell, a redneck, Jewish, used car salesman and mechanic. I still gotta rescue an 89 300D from his yard that has some sort of a coolant leak (and also a dead battery.) He also owned (sold) a 91 convertible and an 81 300D (sold) in the past year. He had a thing for German cars.

FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
I heard about that all the way down here.
He sounded like a champ

I've got an acquaintance selling a Cosworth 16V and a non-Cosworth 16V, they are blooming brilliant!
Mercedes answer for the M3... it wasn't the best answer.... but only because the M3 was a FOOKING INSANE question!
