Wow, you heard about that down in NZ??? That is surprising.
Anyways, about the car, the Cosweorth 16v is friggin awesome and I can't wait to feel it at full power.

It has been a while since I have been able to do anything with the 190, as my daily driver decided it wanted to pop a head gasket and warp a head. Anywho, this isn't about my DD, but my 190, so here it goes.

I took the bad hydraulic line off the pump today, and put a bolt in the pump to keep water and crud out. I made a rookie mistake with this, I thought that it was a flare fitting that was on the end of the hose on the pump. One snap later proved me VERY wrong. Luckily I have a welder and plenty of Ar CO2 in the shop so I was able to put it back together, nice and air tight. I'm probably going to source out a proper replacement though as I don't like the thought of a band aid fix in a benz.

Here is where the leak was, easy to identify with the hose off:

My repair on the fitting I thought originally was a flare:

Anyone got an OEM hose in good shape and a fitting that they would be willing to sell? (will also post in the looking to buy section.)

New hose located, $75 shipped from California.

I am soo happy that I get more wires to fix
I couldn't get a picture in before the rain hit, but I was taking out the blower motor so I could clean out the area, and to clean the evaporator. Well I found that the evaporator wasn't too badly covered, pretty clean actually, but there was a plastic bag stuck on the blower motor itself. When I took it out I saw what looked like a mouse nest, so I cleared it out using a garden hose, then rammed a long screwdriver through the drain holes. I got that mess out now, but noticed at least 3 damaged wires (as in not connecting to anything damaged.) The 3 wires are a yellow/black, yellow/red and yellow/green.

Trouble is that the wire loom that I need to repair is underneath the housing around the evaporator, and I can't fit my hands in there with a soldering iron to repair it. Now I get to figure out how to remove the evaporator so I can repair the damaged wires (and do a bit more cleanup)

Pics when I can get back outside!

The wire loom in question is the one that is directly below this area

I don't believe that he was, he didn't have the attention capacity to keep up with internet forums, he was very old school. I helped him out a lot with his internet questions and issues, and did a lot of research for him. I did make a few posts a while back in an attempt to draw national attention to this to try to help him out, but that didn't work very well. TBH it wasn't the right place to do it anyways.

Back to the car, I haven't done much with it as of yet, I am sifting through the MB CD that I have to try to figure out how to take things apart properly, and sift through the wire diagrams so I can figure out WTF exactly got damaged. No luck as of yet.

Not trying to be a smart-ass, but shouldn't this this be under "other projects"?
emjay   +1y
I'm a member and this is one of my rides. Just because it can out pull a B and is more elegant in stock form doesn't make it an 'other' project

It won't pull my B when it's done, guaranteed

It's ok emjay. We can post our crappy Bs here, so I guess you can post your crappy Bens too
