i have a/c on 92 hilux.
i'm not happy with how quick my electric pumps fill my tank(6gal)
so i wanna convert my a/c pump.
has anyone done this and if so, how did you go about it?

i have some diagrams on how to wire it up.
it just the physical conversion part i'm unsure on.

Ok all I did is have the suction side tapped out to hold a 1/2 pipe thread so I sould attach a air filter to it.The other side was tapped out to a 3/8 pipe thread and I ran a stainless steel line to a Wix ACK10 water trap and then ran the air line to a check valve on my tank.I fill it once and a while with Lucas oil stabilizer and Ether oil...Hadnt had a problem out of it.The wire on the clutch wire to a switch in the cab or put it on a pressure swithc and thats it.

thanks dude
i have located the wire goping to the clutch on the pump.
i will hook it up to a relay running off the pressure switch.
i just need to purge all the gas out of the system. and sort a water trap and inline oiler.

Ok as far as a water trap I have a cool little system that runs what looks like a oil filter comes with a base and all......A few of us are running it around here,it works great you just change the filter about every 3 months depending on the use of your air system. Also a oiler I dont run one I just start the compressor up at 0 psi so it starts sucking and pour the oil into the suction side, just add some once and a while.

How fast does this pump air? I removed my belt and compressor.. but with the way my 4 little thomases are running, anything could help! I have a little spare cash so this would be cool to try. Any downsides? Problems?

Let me know!!

Nothing I have run into when Im crusing it fills my tank in a about 30 seconds to a min.I havent had any problems yet ,seens to pump like hell just keep oil in it and go.

Could you post step by step the basics on what to do? I know some things.. just don't wanna forget any. Also.. besides the stock AC compressor itself.. how much in parts would I be looking at?
