I know usually a drop spindle means you have to run larger wheels. Is this true with an 84? I would like to lower it as much as possible now and still run the 14s until I get the wheels I want.

you definitely don't need them on 14's. I ran on 13 wires and it was almost too low for daily driving around here. You'll have so much camber you'll be changing your tires ever other month

He's asking if 14" wheels will fit if you have drop spindles. I assume he's got the stock size tires, which are the equivalent of 18s. If you want to be static, drop spindles are a good idea, to relieve some camber and get good tire wear.

I would also like to know the answer to his actual question.

I ran 14" wheels and 185/70R14 tires with 2'' drop spindles and torsion bars cranked down for a while. The only problem I had was scraping when I went over a speed bump or up a driveway. Also I got high centered a couple times. Other than that, no problems with camber or tires rubbing. Hope that helps.

running drop spindles on your 84 with stock tires will be fine. its the better way to static drop a truck because it means you'll get two inches of drop and your torsion will be at stock tension which will ride a little better up front than if you cranked the torsions down. most people just crank down the torsion bars because its cheaper than spending $200 on spindles. on the 84-88 truck if you plan to body drop your truck on 18's you'll need the spindles to lay out completely. and like seth said if your running stock tires, its about equivilent to a set of 18's.

i have a 86' right now thats just static droped and im running drop spindles and cranked down torsions 1'' on stock tire combo. works great and the ride is way better than if you were to just crank down your torsions. i only rub if i make a hard turn.

Rubbing at hard turn! Make sure the tire isn't hitting the inner fender, as the steering still has travel & will act as a press & pull the tie rods out!!

THis is not true. You can lay 20s with a stock spindle.

im laying 17's on stock spindles, but goddam, what can i do to relieve some of this camber... my tires look brand new on the outside and like a racing slick on the inside edge... what do i need ? arms? spindles? both?? AAARRRGGGHH.
