On my 95 civic from the top center of the bearing opening to the top is about 13 1/2 to 13 5/8 and the top to the bottom of the spindle is roughly 17 1/2. This is for an ex. The lower end models of my body style have a smaller wheel bearing opening.

So we have already found one spindle that is shorter than another.
I measured mine from the center of the hole, but from the edge it is about 14 1/4 inches.

Remember mine is from a 91 Civic base model.


I just tried to check the Prelude but I can't find my lug wrench with thin walls. I will get it as soon as possible.

I just found this pic of the Prelude before it was painted. I just thought I would show you how low it was when it still had 16s.

I just measured the spindles in the Prelude. It was 16 inches from the center of the hub to the top of the spindle.

That is a lot longer than a Civic one. Maybe cutting won't be necessary.

I would love to see how long a spindle is in an Accord. That would be a much better swap for the Prelude, or from a Prelude to an Accord.

i think im just gonna weld it myself. mine has to be strong but not as strong as you guy cause im not supporting the weight of the whole front end on mine(hydraulics). wish me luck. i just gotta take them off the 96 and buy new rotors and bearings

alreite guys i just read every post in this thread. Im not buildin a honda right now but an avenger. I ran into a lot of the same problems but up front my biggest deal was the ball joint bindin up. I talked with mike at BYC n he said he was down for makin some new ones some im sure he would take you guys up on an offer too. However i sent him the control arm about a month ago n found out itll prolly be a while till he can get them back to me. I need to be able to move the car next month cuz i am going to be building a cantilever setup in the back seat usin cans. So now i tihnk i might go ahead n try to make me a set myself in chassis fab since i start that class in October. Im with you guys 150% on this cuz i know how much of a pain in the ass all of this shit is to get through. Ive been workin on the back gettin it ready to lay n it seems like i just keep cuttin n cuttin n cuttin n not really gettin anywhere. I like your ideas for the shotened spindles but my ball joint mount is like 1/4in away from the stock tire. To Bagged4DoorIntegra, im on the east coast. Im from northeast pa but right now im in blairsville at wyotech. I tihnk i may have talked to you at big show with katfish. I think it was you anways let me know if u know him. Weve been prettyg ood friends since we started this shithole. As to all the rest of you, good luck with gettin em down on the ground. I should be railin folded over pich welds soon hopefully. You guys definately got some good shit goin on in here. It actually helped me out with a few issues of my own. Maybe someday we can all go drag the cars together

I know a couple of guys building Stratus's and they had to raise the engine before they even got really low at all. The drive axles bind up really early on those and end up killing the tranny. You might want to check on that before you drive it super low.

So what do all of you guys drag on your cars if you drag it? I drove mine around the parking lot today and dropped the ass and was dragging the lower control arm mounts. I don't wanna be doing that all the time and I really don't want to get drag blocks but it's starting to look that way.

I dunna i havent had a problem with the axles yet. The avenger is based off the eclipse not the stratus so that might be why. Im prolly gonna have to raise the motor anyways or else section the oil pan and the tranny pan. I thought i was a lot closer to the oil pan but i looked at the tranny pan the otherday n noticed it had some good draggin marks in it so i gotta do somethin about before i drive it next time. I cant figure out the back of this car tho. I need to cut the control arm some for the spindle to come up through more but im afraid the ball joint is gonna start bindin by then. I took the control arm off tonight n got an inch lower n i was suprised i got that much. I might try movin it up an inch or 2 but im tryin to figure out how i can get rid of some of the cambr cuz i wanna be able to drive it low. Thanks for the heads up on the axles though. Ill have to look out for that when i get the control arms for the front.

As for what i drug before... the front cross member up front n that was about it. Im gonna fold the pinch welds over n weld some 1n half 1/4 along the bottom n drag that. Prolly put a plate of 1/2in or somethin on the rear crossmember to drag the back. I feel ya on the block thing. I am not goin through all of this work just to bolt on some big block to drag around then have everyone bitch that its only draggin blocks. Those guys have no idea of what guys like us go through to get these cars low. Then they just laugh cuz we cant be called "minitruckers"

yea its crazy at all the work we have to do to get a car low compared to a truck its alot more work than what most people think its took me a lilwhile to make the front brackets and stuff for it but i got it all done now i just got done plating my control arms and gonna drill the holes on them to mount the front bags and gotta finish up drilling the holes in the upper bag bracket and weld it solid its just tacked in right now but i odnt even wanna count how many times i had to recut move shit redo the front cuz everytime i got something looking good i went to the driver side and the shit wouldnt clear my break shits on the firewall but i got it now so ill try to get some pics of it up by the end of the day but im out to work on it some more ill holla at every1 later
