I did the swap. Twice. My first was just a plain ole 305. I have to tell you, I have had more problems with cars that came with v8's in them. After about a year or so, it was just not fast enough for me so......

I pulled the 305, and went with a 383 and a powerglide. After my 4th rear, I switched to a Ford 9" and an have never been happier. 10. in the quarter mile and drive everywhere. Now that I am putting a strip only s-10 together though, I think I may put an LS1 in and turbo it.

I did the swap and am glad I did. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Now, if I could just find someone making a-arms so I could drop the torsion bars, I would be in heaven!

To hell with it, go for the gusto. Stroked and blown big blocks offer some sweet ass thrills!!! Just cage the truck and go for a modified pro street look. Slammed, tubbed, big n' littles, big 10-71 suckin up everything in sight. Think Muscle Machine diecast cars with a yota body.

Cool, I actually know a guy who has a late 70s 4x4 with a blown 383. It's just a 174cid blower, but that bitch screams. It looks mean as hell too, it's got full size 1.5 or 2 ton axles and 36" boggers. Not to mention enough bent tubing (roll bars, rock rails, etc.) all around it to make it look like it could destroy a small office building.

well,I'm ready to do the swap,my buddy and I re-body dropped the yota,so now it went from a 2-inch to a 3-1/2 inch body drop,I have went back and forth trying to figure out what to do,first it was the 350ho motor from gm goodwrench, that is suppose to have 350 hp out the crate, then I decided to keep the 22re and turbo it,but it's gonna cost pretty much the same, actually more for the turbo 4-banger with less power,so I'm gonna get a 350sb and rebuild, regardless of condition, slap a 700r automatic to it and let it roll, there is a guy on street source rockin a 301 that looks pretty sweet,so I think I can get away with the small block 350,anyone that has done this before that could tell me of any problems you have ran into,I would appreciate any info, thanks for the replys!

Chevy never made a 301. A 305, yes. They even made a 302 in the 60s, but never a 301. 305s came in Camaros, but Irocs had TPI 350s in them.
