nice to see some one knows their chevys. now for the real brain teaser. what is a 402 and can you build one outside the factory?

im going to agree with seth. never heard of a 301 in camaros. 305 HO and then the tuned port 350

a 402 is a big block chevy and you can build one anywheere you so please, just bore a 396.

LS1 would be teh p1mp... Stroked to a 408...weeee All aluminum, most will be lower milage, dont have to worry about the opti like with an LT1. The parts for the motor are a bit more if you want to build it up, but worth it. Great motors..

LS1s are cool, but like you said, more expensive.

Personally, I'd go for a regular old carbed small block. I don't care much for EFI.

close but no cigar. it's machine differenently than standard. so you cant just bore it out & stick a 427 crank in it & call it a 402

yea the 305 HO was tuned port injected

chuck, isn't the crank journals different size and you have to machine the crank to get it to fit

yep, also the heads are machined differently, just like the chevy 302
