Looks good man, im sure your sick of hearing, use MDF but if you ever rebuild, make sure to use MDF and put a long as hell slot port out the top of that thing. I think you would be very suprised on how much louder you would be than just a plain old sealed box.

Its not just the db but how much lower it could play. In a pick up it makes quite a big diff.

thanks for all the compliments...yeah i carpeted it because i liked the form...not only that but these subs have a pretty big mounting depth and thats why i built the rings...its brings em out far enough to clear everything on the inside...so instead of just carpeting over those rings i fiberglassed it to give it a mellow well flowing shape...

you can get the same frequency response in a sealed as well as a ported enclosure.

I know in my s-10 with even my 10's behind the seat dont leave sh*t for leg room so I threw em out. not that my story matters I'm just sayin...alright I'll shut my pie hole now.

Adding 3db is DOUBLING what your previous attempt was...

Install a 3 inch internal diameter port that extnds 7.5 inches into the box and you will gain the following:

30Hz +1db
40Hz +3db
50Hz +4db
60Hz +4db
70Hz +3db
80Hz +2db

Also, with the box size that you have you will be achieving max SPL at about 65Hz and you will be at -2db at 40Hz. If you remove one woofer from the box and install the port you will lower the peak frequency to about 48Hz. This will put you at +3db at 40 Hz. From an spl standpoint, this box ported with a woofer removed (and the hole sealed of course) should net a 1 to 2db increase from 35 to 50Hz. Depending on your taste, this might be a better option.

Box looks ok. You should use High density particle board though for your basic enclosure. And use fleese to make the first layer out of. Wet that out then apply fiberglass on top of that.

High density particle board?!? Haha.

Use 3/4" MDF. Particle board is a joke, and most solid stereo shops will not mess with it anymore.

yea the wood you used is for like anything but a sub box lol but if it works then thats cool to but next time definitely use mdf looks cool though im doin like almost the same thing but with 2 10's and a waterfall style council that goes up into the dash. good job though!!!

i would argue that, that is ont what happened to them. .25 ft^3 didnt blow them, he probably cranked the gains or something else than the box being to small. all a smaller box does is kill the sensitivity of the sub. more power to get as loud as a larger box. most of the time u cant tell much of a difference in .25^3 anyways. but never the less the box size IS important! if those blow i would look into something completely opposite them. You can blow one easier with too little power than you can with to much if your not careful.

not trying to start a debate, but i dont believe under powering ANYTHING will blow it. people just send too little power and expect too much. the only way of damaging a sub with too little power is negligence. and by that i mean.....clipping and just an overall bad setup on the amp.
