My friend has a 99 dakota that he wants to lay frame. What does he need to lay the front on 18's or possibly 20's. Do we need lowered control arms? Who sells a good kit for this? Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Devious Customs makes some serious control arms for it. You'll also have to Z the frame, I believe 3 inches. Your also gonna have to shorten the rear axle 6.25 inches if you go with 20's. You'll have to shorten the axle regardless, but thats how much was shortened and I have 20's. Other than that, have fun. By the way, the driveline is shifted to the right side. Thats just stock. Good luck.

if you get a high offset billet wheel made you can barely get by with layin frame on 20s, even bodydropped, aaron from the cali chapter of acrophobia has the devious arms. on my truck i narrowed the arms 1", stepped the lower 1", and the upper arms i pointed the balljoint down 15 degrees, and it would lay a 20" wheel/tire.

few different ways you can go about it, they've all given you a pretty good idea of what goes into it. Also a couple little things that your gonna need to lay true frame with 20s is to tub the front and do some work to the tranny X-member.
But feel free to shoot me a email to
info@centerstagecustoms.com and i'd be more then willing to go in depth about it with you. And email us at
sales@centerstagecustoms.com and we'll get you setup with the perfect kit at the perfect price, no prob
talk to ya later

what about with 18's? Do we still need to z the frame and control arms? thanks for the input

the frame has to be zed no matter what, and the firewall doesnt have to be touched, even with a bodydrop. and the tranny xmember hangs below, i built a new one, you can see some stuff in my profile.

what about a rear setup?? i want to run a parallel 4 link, but i dont want the bags above the axel, so i just want to add two bars in back of the axel to make it a six link, does anyone have it like this on a dakota so i could see pictures, and does any one know were i could buy the 2 rear links so i wouldnt have to make them myself? and does anyone have pics of the zed frame
