well guys i got my motor pulled out and it goes in next week to get built...i had a few questions about getting stuff to "pretty" up the engine...other than LC Engineering, where could i find like brush aluminum pulley kits? also, i hear that there is a steel braided line kit you could get that slips over regular hoses...i dont know if this is true or how good they look if it is, i just dont want it to look cheesy. would it be okay to paint my block with the same two stage paint im painting my engine bay with? and with my valve cover, would you chrome or powder coat it with an alumi-coat product that looks similar to chrome? i just dont know if the valve cover can get hot enough to discolor the chrome. thanks in advance.

Valve cover doesnt get that hot. I'd chrome it, or polish it (less money, more time). There arent really that many things you can do to dress up your motor. I'm getting just about everything that comes off of mine powedercoated. The intake, thermostat housing, and all the emission tubes. All my pulleys and brackets are getting black chromed as we speak.

As for spraying the block, get a high temp primer that is the same brand as the paint. Both DuPont and PPG make one. Get a pint, or smaller amount if you can. Then spray your base and clear over that. The block doesnt get hot enough to bake the paint off. The head might, around the exhaust ports, but I'd just clean the aluminum on that.

You can get the steel braided radiator hoses. They might be chrome flex tube though. Not that expensive reallly. You can get a chrome alternator and that water pump pulley LC has. Get the wire loom thing. If yours is carbureted (I think it is?) I might start making some cool intakes that take a cone filter, and still take on the emission fittings. However the stock one would have to be placed on during smog time.

I got a chrome intake if ya need that....most all of my other stuff is and will be sent to a chrome shop.

the intake you have...is it an aftermarket proformance intake or just the stock one that was chromed? either way how much? i have a 22r.

as for chroming stuff, i was going to get certain brackets and stuff chromed and was just going to paint my water pump and things like that the same two stage to match the truck...i dont want a lot of chrome but enough to set things off.

another question i had was about the intake...i want to put a k&n on it and i know lc has a filter and chrome housing but i was curious as to if it has the nipples on the bottom side where a few smog vacum lines go in?..if not no big deal but what would i do with those lines? cap them off or just let them chill somewhere?

and the pulleys, i could probably just use the ones i have and just get them powder coated or chromed...but i like the brushed aluminum look for pulleys and stuff...is there a way to polish those? (they are stock pullies)

and last but not least, electric fans...who makes a good one. im a little scepticle on electric operated fans for the cooling system but my dad swears by them and says they are just as reliable. not that i dont believe him, but what are the benifits in relation to the cost of putting in electric fans other than lessening the drag on the motor....i would assume that the drag a motor driven fan has isnt really a lot to make a big difference on a motor of this magnitude but never the less.

Its a factory intake....that was chrome plated.
As far as a air filter I wouldnt do it Id wait on if you were planning to get a Weber or a Holley cause the top of the carbs are different.I know someone out here makes a adapter that makes a factory toyota carb round ontop so you can run a aftermarket aircleaner (round or square).
The electric fan.....well I just went to one I was hesitant like you but I finally went with one a slim line with a thermostat.......the best thing I can say is do your research dont just buy a cheap john on the spot one....find a good reputable company that builds one to last.

Flex-A-Lite is a good electric fan company.

You will free up a good amount of power by adding one. The stock fan clutch takes a lot of force to move. Removing it will reduce parasitic drag by a lot.

Hold off on the intake. Does yours just have those two small vaccum lines on the bottom?
