If your gusset's stop somewhere in the center of the frame they will twist up and rip through threw framerail. If you make gusset's big enough to reach the top of the framerail this won't happen.I don't know how your setup was installed, but this sounds like whats happening.

this is common because the frame its self is made of quite thin metal. You should plate the side of the frame 1st then weld your brackets to that.

It is from too much heat while welding. The newer chevy frames are touchy. The heat causes the metal to become brittle in some cases.

you could just call ekstensive and asked a few questions.they tend to be quite helpful even when they did not install it.perhaps callin would have been better than typin.words tend to be misinterpreted when typin.

maybe when you were welding, you were too hot and possibly weakend the metal causeing it to break?

just an idea?

Cutten Customs in houston is the shop that bagged my truck a few years ago...i guess i should thank them, huh? Cutten Customs

Cutten Customs, damn man, just be glad it didn't kill you...the way they bagged my vehicle like 3 years ago they almost did that to me. They notched my rear frame so extreme that there was only like an inch of metal left and then they didn't box the shit!!! Truck almost broke in half from the stress!!! SO I SAY F*** THOSE MOTHER F***ERS!!!

I have had the same problem before we have install at least 40 of these kits,It's two reasons why the installer not welding good or not cleaning the area well when installing.

The other is the customer clowning with nitro or helium that bracket will bend and rip with that much force and does need to be reinforced.

We use to think the metal was not thick enough but after exp you see.Give mitch or bill a call they will help out.

thanks for the advice. we talked to mitch the other day and he suggested that it may be because our brackets were welded in a little too low, which they are.

and we definitely do not clown too much with our nitrogen. a tank usually lasts us almost a month, so that pretty much explains it
