I didn't like the liquid, too messy, never dried, got all over. I use the YELLOW teflon tape cuz it is made for GASES. I works great! The WHITE teflon tape is made for LIQUIDS.

remember to wrap the tape on in the correct direction so that it wants to stay on the fitting when you thread it in, not just spin off. on the chrome or powder coated tanks run a tap through the hole to get uniform threads back. you can also try using teflon tape that is meant for natural gas, its kinda a light green color and is somewhat thicker then the normal tape, i've found dificult leaks in the past have been sealed this way

Ive used both, rarely use the paste though on everyday tank/valve fittings.. but, when I actually ALWAYS use it, is on gauges. the small ass male fittings on the back of gauges is hard to get the tape wrapped good and consistant with the mounting screws/light bulb fixtures in the way. i just use some small tube of paste from the local hardware store.. works great. only downside, it can be a little messy.

also.. if anyone cares, i found teflon tape on ebay for 99 cents.. then 9.99 shipping.. so you pay like $11 for 72 rolls.. yes 72 rolls..lol. ill never run out now!

i use both. a thin layer of tape and a thin layer of paste on top of it.

I have used a little bit of everything
tape, paste, gasket silicone, etc etc etc

Paste works the best for me

and remember, you can overtighten the fitting and crack it a lil, causes leaks ... i see that somewhat often when I have to redo other local shops shit.

i use red loc tite. i love it. it's alot cleaner then paste, and it doesn't get in your valves like tape.
