At 150hrs a day @$3.00 x 5 days that is $2,250/week. $117,000/yr

150 hrs per day? Where? Only if the jobs are way overbid would this be possible. I have made 200+ hrs/week working flat rate doing frame/sheetmetal replacement and body work at a shop and that was for mostly hail panel repair work. Either 150 hrs/DAY is a typo or straight BULLSHIT!!

I'm a combo guy and only made 15 dollers an hour and couldn't get a raise cause the pollock kid would work for like two days straight and never go home,lol.. so i told my boss to suck a dick...if your just a helper, around here you'll make 10 bucks an hour, painters bring in an easy 20 to 30 dollers an hour and thats just to paint,fags...

I know a guys who owns a shop in Kentucky, he pays the workers 10 dollar an hour and they get commission on each job...They work the hours by the job, like if a quarter panel on the computer say's 10 hours and you get it done in 8 then your 2 hour ahead of the game,so if your working 40 hours a week and you bang some jobs out faster then they are in the computer time you could be up 150 at the end of the week, but a day ...

anything over 15 an hour i really wouldnt complain about it. I mean its a job that not everybody can do, but when your helper starts makin near about the same as you few dollars less, then i would start to get a little mad. But as far as 20+ an hour, you guys got it made.

meh when i was an aprentice panel beater i was on 6.25 AUD it went up a bit to near 7 bucks AUD. that was at a beemer dealership, worked like 10 hours a day stripping car, doing heaps of bar repairs (BORING!) few interesting bits, shit job. bosses i would love to beat with a bat, i was off on injury cos some other mech aprentice reversed a car in to a car bench jig setup i was setting up for a 5 series to sit on so the driveline could be ripped out and he backed in to it and i got knocked over and broke my middle fingure in a few places yeah boo hoo no big deal but the boss calls me in the next week telling me hes gonna fire me blah blah for taking time off untill i tell him im on workers compensation. Dik
thier both moved on from that shop now.
i then worked in a great shop on like 13 bucks an hour as a shop hand doing this n that. small repairs helping out the guys.
now i go to college doing IT system Admin. and do body work for friends n stuff to keep me cashed.
AUD is Similar rate to Canadian dollars i think.

been a shop hand is a good way to learn. if u like the shop stay, dealerships seem to suck ass

i run (with help of course) one of the largest collision centers in las vegas. Exoticar. The amount a painter or even a jammer gets is dependent upon his years of experience, certified training (i.e. ppg/dupont certified etc). If you have those qualifications you can pretty much go anywhere and paint for a good check. The consideration would be this, how busy is your current shop? if you're slammed all day long and your not getting more than 13 per hour, i'd tell you to walk. however, if you are comfortable with admitting that you have quite a bit of down time, then that would seem justifiable. but, the fact that your employer told you you were getting a raise indicates he knows your capabilities as a painter. maybe the payroll is outsourced and they missed getting you the raise, i really don't know. if he said that, call him on it and see what's up. different shops pay differently, and we even pay different to different painters. our exotics specialist makes over 28 an hour flat rate. our jammer though makes about 15. we have piece painters as well, and that obviously goes by ticket time. i dunno bro, there's more money out there, if you think you're getting screwed, then.......
