you will need to measure where the center line of the suspension is. if you look at a mustang crossmember it makes an L on each side where the frame goes through it. That L is where i cut 2" straight down. then i had to take some steel 2" tall and weld it to the bottom of the hat. I added the gussets for extra strength. you can see where i had to notch the frame for the steering rack, but other than that i didn't have to cut the frame. it was kind of hard to get good pics with the motor in there.

so u cut the frame to set that L piece down into it? thats how im understanding it. i may be way off lol. im going to look at marvs frame right now

his looks like hes cross member welded in without the L piece, and went straight up for the arm mount, or it did what i said, he cut out for that piece to sit flush in the frame, and then welded that hat piece, just different looking, onto the frame for the arm mount. am i looking at it right?

when you put the crossmember in the lower part comes up from the bottom. I put a link to heidt's website and there is a pic of the crossmember you can see where the frame come through it and the L shaped cut outs on the crossmember where the frame goes. You will also see on the hats there is an upside down L where sit on top of the frame. that is where you'll have to add the 2" .

now im completely confused lmao so u dont actually cut the frame for the cross member, just notch for the steering. if thats case, how does the cross member not lay out before the frame... im so damn confused lmfao. i know i know, ur prolly getting mad lol but honestly, im not seeing how it comeing from the bottom and attaching doesnt lay the cross member out before the frame.

but then when i look at marvs, the front comes up higher, and it would make since for the cross member to lay out, so it should be even with the center part of the frame under the cab, correct?

i think that he built his crossmember. i think that the dimensions of the control arms and spindles and all are based on a mustang 2. if you bought a crossmember it would look like mine

alright, and as far as the two inches, thats your 45'd piece right? that ur top arm mounts to? and your "hat" is the top bracket. correct? and the hat sits on the 45'd piece for an added 2 inches. correct? and how do i figure if mine is two inches, or if mine is different? since urs is an early model and mines a later model.

on my truck the frame is pretty well straight. it doesn't drop down back down behind the crossmember. however, your frame may drop down behind the crossmember. on my truck with bags down the crossmember never touches the ground, its about an inch or so off the ground. also with my truck unlike yours the frame is no the lowest part of the truck. my running boards and bottom of the fenders hang down lower than the frame. so on your truck you may auctually lay frame

lol so u got lucky and got a free body drop lol. so did u notch your frame for the crossmember or no? cuz if yours is a straighter frame, the way i understand it, the member would hang below the frame. isnt that what the little notch on the corssmember is for? to like sit the frame on top of? and then weld it up in a sense? thats how i take the ones ive seen so far, i see the link u posted is like a universal one i guess, and u gotta notch the cross member for the frame.
