i know you've seen these before but they will take care of any caster adjustment. The trick is to build a control arm that needs no adjustment.

You can still use straight rod ends and adjust for caster if you use a strut type mount on the frame. check out the picsnot exactly the same, but you get the idea:

as long as you don't move the ball joint location over in the x axis just in the y axis and z axis you should have to worry about caster. that is if you were to put your origin on say the lower left ball joint in the bottom pic above.

Whereas I would think with heims they would be able to move the entire control arm front to back, in relation to the frame.

I'm interested in a set to run toyota spindles on my 720.
correct me if i am wrong but the only advantage of tubular upper arms is the appearence? either way stock uca's are ugly..

In most cases yes. Some are made to correct suspension geometry issues on some trucks. Some are for clearing the steering shaft.
