Heres my experiences with my sonoma. First the truck wouldnt hold a charge. Every time I would get in it to drive somewhere I would have to take the Jumper box and use it everytime to start the truck. I would drive it several miles, turn the truck off, and it wouldnt start. It had a brand new Optima red top on it. Well ended up being a shit battery. So just because its an optima doesnt mean it can't still be bad. Got that fixed then the starting problem was gone. Then driving home one day the truck just shuts off and dies and rolls to a stop. I'm thinking I ran out of gas because typical s-series fuel guages run out at a little under 1/4 of a tank. Or at least thats been my experiences. Anyway ended up being the fuel pump. Your story has all of the old familiar symptoms. If it ends up being the fuel pump, don't pay someone an ass load to change it. It's a simple task. Get a few buddies to help you lift the bed off and it's a metal ring in the top of the tank that you have to tap around to realease then you take the fuel pump out, put the new one in, put the bed back on, and your done...My new fuel pump was only $86.00 from Advanced. Not sure where you guys are buying them from. Hope that helps

in my 88 it was just a little over 60 dollars. i think that they made the sending unit and pump as one in 93. not sure. but would be nice if i could sending unit out of my 88 into the 95 im getting. in the long run it would save about 230 dollars instead of 300 for the whole thing.

i know this might have anything to do with it. but my sister had a little eagle talon that done the same thing. we went through it all. spent alot of money on it. it ended up being a 3 dollar fuse that was the problem. dont know if the s-10s have anything like that but hey its an idea.

IF THE FUEL PUMP IS THE PROBLEM WAIT, CHECK YOUR FUEL PUMP RELAY, IF IT IS THE RELAY ANY PARTS STORE WILL HAVE IT FOR AROUND $12. IF THE RELAY IS OK THEN CHECK YOUR GROUND FOR THE FUEL PUMP IT IS LOCATED ON THE LEFT REAR OF YOUR FRAME...S10 AND SONOMA TAIL LIGHTS USE THE SAME GROUND AS THE FUEL PUMP, MAYBE IT VIBRATED LOOSE...HOPE THIS HELPS!

im going to get up under the truck today to check out all the wiring to fuel pump... i already checked fuses and everything looked fine... im not sure how to know if a relay is good or not, but i pulled the relay for the fuel pump out and it looked fine... i'll check everything i can today and let you guys know... someone also told me if its the fuel pump, i have to make sure i check the vin#.. supposedly the 8th number in the vvin determines what kind of fuel pump i need... i guess its a big deal.. and john if i end up needing it and yours will work, i'll let you know... i'll pay for shipping and throw you a little on top...

im just so frustrated.. my 4th s10, never had a problem like this before... and it sucks cause i can't even drive it anywhere to get it looked at, and on top of that i don't have a garage to work on it as of now...
