i completely understand your mentality in the article but heres a little insite i guess and please dont take this as a hate thread or more unneeded drama because as many of u who know me im not about that im all for the betterment of minitrucking...anyway i have to say the built not bought issue comes from guys like myself who much like most people work hard at a 9-5 thengo home and build a truck in their garage and say it would take 3-5 years those people for me being one of them are more pationate then then guy who works and drops his off at a shop is one better then the other?????like you said who knows but i think the passion is gretter when you bleed on that truck when you argue with your wife over that truck when you build a garage in your backard to build a truck...the sacrifice is greater that way...in my mind

i havent read the article but im just gonna say this.

building something is always a better feeling because you know every bit of that vehicle, inside and out, etc, having one built for you by a shop or buying one already built from someone is the same thing, it just takes longer to get into a groove with the truck. dont matter dude. we all share a passion, dont matter if it took you 5 years to enjoy that passion(building a truck) or one day to enjoy it(buying a truck).

john i agree with you in areas but i also think minitrucks are dyin out, theres not nearly as many as there use to be now cause all the kids want rice rockets,so i think even if somebody does go buy a truck built or bought there still part of there scene and we need our scene to grow again, and not bad mouth or have things to say about people not wanting to make all those sacrifices

i agree like i said this is just a response with the way i fealt after reading it in no way meant as a bash on buyers

honestly the reason i feel its dyeing is because of ourselves look how we act at shows....alot of people wont bring kids..so who replaces people as they go...look at this site people critisize everyone at the drop of a dime???is that fun???bring back the passion help a niehbor kid build a mini....help a dude stranded with a broken airline...help a newb who doesnt know the difference between a canti 4 link and a reverse 4 link...encourage the next gen of people embrace the young guys..

i agree 100% with (johnz), not taking anything away from someone who buys a built truck or pays someone to build it for them...cuz if a truck is badass, it dont matter if its built or bought..but when i go to a show and hear or see that a truck is garage built, i give it alot more respect...just my 2 cents

i agree john 100 %

Ok ....you want passion... look at the cover truck for that issue, this guy busted his ass for years and us as friends poured our own money, blood, sweat and tears into this ride for what .....not to say he got a cover, not to show of the club, but to inspire the kid at 7-11 that walks by 50 other magazines from bikes to tattoos and get him to stop look at the magazine and inspire him or her to one day build there own! What else can you give back to the scene other than help in grow and not die. I remember growing up in 1989 in south texas and I saw Mini trucks everywhere, hell I busted my ass to join Texas Minis and I petiotioned for 3 years before I got a logo on my Isuzu Pup. And you guys say it's better when you can boast you you feel better to say that you did everything on that ride and it was built on your hands alone. Well to that I say bullshit cause for the past 17 or 18 years its been know that I have been in the scene I never had the skill or the time to say I fully built a ride. I did what my skill level could do and the rest went to the guys in the scene that bust there ass for long hours behind the scene alot of times with out credit, making dreams come true for people. And John if you want to hear passionate... I have opted to pull out 23 grand out of my retirement in the military and here is the kicker to that , by doing that I lose over 700,000 YES I SAID 700,000 from age 38 when I retire to age 62 when social secuirty kicks in....so you tell me If people out there don't love this shit and for what to help finish my Tacoma and for what.....not for me, not for any media exposure, but for the scene and for that little kid that rides with mom and dad on the freeway and sees me with my boys cruising and giving him that sparkle in his eye to one day build the sickest shit I have ever seen. So built and not bought is retarded and a death curse to a scene that is in dire need of a jump start!

i am military as well and fully understand what you said and like i said above i am not bashing anyone or the way there ride comes about...i am just giving an insight to the way i fealt when i read the editorial....and trust me alot of us have lost money....lost alot of things...and why is it a death curse??? i think the built over bought thing is a great thing...as with building anything it creates a much tighter bond ..but again i dont hate on people who pay to have things done shit i cant paint i will pay to have mine painted...
