From that pic of your old fuel filter it loooks like it could be rust in there? Have you checked the inside of your tank to make sure it's not rusting?

I have no idea what you've checked, just figured I'd throw that out there from looking at that pic....

guess ill chime in,have you checked the fuel pump drive on the camshaft?i am assuming of course that you are running a 20r or 22r.dunoo if the 20r is similar but the 22r drives the fuel pump by the camshaft...maybe that part of the cam is worn"half stroking"the fuel pump.worth a shot

DroptSDime, I had the tank out when I drained it, I checked it then. Its still perfectly clean inside.

Nathan, when I installed the new cam it actually came with a new fuel pump drive lobe. I also pulled the valve cover to check for flat lobes, and I checked it then as well.

On the cat hold it at a higher rpm for a while and see if it starts glowing red a lot of times when they start clogging they will get really hot and glow it might be worth a shot before cutting the exhaust or unbolting it. also when you pull the exhaust off see if you can get a long pry bar to reach the cat and use a hammer and hit it to break all the shit up and blow it out with an air compressor good as new but with ne resistance.

blowing out the internals of the cat is HIGHLY illegal, specially in cali. use a laser thermoter. if it is hotter in front of the cat, then the rear usually by alot, you need a new cat.

its only illegal if they catch you lol. if he already passed emissions they have no reason to wonder about his exhaust. all a cop will do is look to see if its there, not if the internals are still in it. We used to do this on my buddies cars back in Orlando.

Hey Seth, if it is the cat,you can get a flow through stainless one, from LC, that is pretty small & a lot less than a stock replacement!Good luck with this problem. Gary

I run a high flow Magnaflow cat.

I forgot I have one for the Nissan sitting here. I can just put it in and order a new one for the Nissan.
