I've been ready to roll this thing off a cliff for about a week now. I'm stumped as to how everything could go wrong at once with no warning.

Air filter is brand new, but I've been testing it with it off, and with it on and makes no difference. I will pick up a new fuel filter tonight though and see if that helps. I will also try the gas can technique. I've been meaning to do this for a while now.

My stupid smog pump is no more. Its been replaced with an AC pump for future use.

I wish I could just take it to a mechanic and say you deal with it. But I can't afford it ATM after tuition this semester, and having not been paid for the Nissan yet...

The fuel cutoff solenoid has power with Ignition ON position. I disconnected it and it didn't really make much of a difference, but it made the exhaust smell much worse. Like a sharp burning smell that stings the nose.

I replaced my fuel filter too, old one was nasty, but it made no difference either. And heres the black shit coming out of the pipe. The small dark patch is the freshest as I moved my truck back a foot.

I also ran it out of a gas can, to see if there where any issues between the tank and carb, but that also didn't make any difference.

I'm trying to find a video camera to use so I can better record whats actually happening.

stupid question...have you checked for a bad head gasket? ie a compression test? just wondering if the watery discharge is from that. would explain the way its runnnig too.

if thats been covered sorry.

I did a compression test, and got even numbers across all cylinders. Any other way to tell if the head gasket is blown?

I really don't see why it would be though.

do yall have ethonal out there at the pumps? i know ethonal in the past has caused problems on cars that couldnt run on it, but sounds like it either has a vaccum leak or ur vaccum advance isnt working right

So I was left stuck on a freeway offramp that goes uphill. No chance of push starting.

cant help with anything else, but you coulda did it in reverse! i did it in the work truck a month ago, by boss dragged me at like 25mph backwards, and i dumped the clutch in reverse!

I actually tried that. It wasn't steep enough to get going more than a few MPH, even with a push.

Either way, it doesn't run now. I'm going to try to find a new rack for the Mustang today at the junkyard and fix that before my class tonight so I actually have something to drive.

So you said you removed the smog pump and such and I don't know about toyotas but a mazda will do the exact same thing liquid discharge out the rear and all that if you remove the smog shit I had one that I completely rebuilt the motor put a header on it but not a weber and it ran like piss made an adapter and put a VW bug carb on it ran great, made a new adapter and put a motorcraft 2 barrell on it ran balls to the wall for about 30,000 miles then washed the rings (i didn't use smaller jets). so i would try putting the smog shit back on as much as it sucks and see if it fixes it. Or change to a non smog carb.

if you got good numbers across each cylinder then id say your head gasket is fine.

do you get a steady exhaust flow out the back>? i wonder if all that junk you ran through plugged your cat up??? my buddies caprice wouldnt run for shat. we tuned it up and tried bout everything in the world. it ended up bein the cat plugged up. come to think of it, it was makin bad smells and funky black spot on his drive.

You know the most obvious is usually the case you have a good piont on the cat thing I've seen a lot of do that and it would explain why it only does it once its warm the cat get clogged worse the warmer it gets. Hollow that shit.
