okay. scored a sick little 78 longbed yesterday. all bone stock. black vinyl buckets, everything inside works, all factory glass, body is almost flawless, has cold blowing factory a/c, lights are all perfect but one, its fucking clean. its going to be my new daily. i plan to lower it, shave the cab vents, handles, passenger side lock cylinder, antenna, stock mirrors, side lights, bed seams, spot welds on back of cab, bed hooks, cowl openings (maybe), possibly run the flare from 79-83 4wd yota fenders on it. its also going to be bobbed out back, to make a shorter bed. i dont care about the few inches longer the front half is. bring the front of the bed down to cab level, header, exhaust and a weber, maybe a W58 tranny swap, tint the windows. paint the dash purple, get carpet and a console, stereo it up, short shifter. a talking shrek shift kbob (yes, i said that). ebay H4 conversion headlights, and a few other things im keeping to myself until i do it.

so, this is a big change from the previous set of ideas for a different bodystyle. so that means i have a shaved 89-95 dash that im looking to sell, as well as a 91 4runner bumper i shaved, 95 4runner headlights and grille, and some 89-95 tinted tail light lenses. so, anybody want that stuff?

heres some pictures.

and if reading everything up to the pictures above makes no sence, its because i removed most of my posts to clean up the page of babble.

any pics of the dash?

just the one above. its pretty simple. headlights on the dash, 4 ways on the dash, 3 slide heater with a fan knob, ac is seperate down low, 2 big gauges. its in awesome shape though. the seat belts even look new. its still got the original mudflaps on the back, and they look new. its like it was garaged forever. no rust ive found at all, except maybe a small amount like paint chips and scratches.

That thing is really clean, I would leave the outside all stock, polish it up, static drop, do your stereo, clean up the interior and motor, the motor mods are cool too. It would be sweet all stock with your little tweaks. Just my opinion though.

stock body and lay it out!!!

yeah, i love the lines of it. and i am keeping handles. but id like to ditch some of the extra stuff thats on the body. mainly the cab vents and side lights. i have a cool idea for the front lighting too. im going to run the H4 conversion headlights in all 4 spots. drill a small hole into each housing for a 194 LED light for a night glow. and also, another bulb thats an orange 194 for the blinker. that bulb would only be in the center headlights. those are highbeam only. since the highbeam wont be on when somebody is coming towards me that im indicating to. and then shave the lower valance lights. im waiting on a few answers from some sellers on ebay that have the lights. that small circle is a bitch to find makers of the light from. haha.

I had a 75 LB a long time ago (like 15 years)... It certainly needs a 5 speed to drive on the highway, and that was back when limits were 60... not 70-80.
Lucky you have buckets so that will be one less thing to modify when you put the 5 speed in it, since the tail shifters will come up much farther back.

Not much you can do to static drop it except cut the springs up front. I was going to try throwing a set of MGB coils in it since they are about the same OD and possibly a bit shorter but never got the suspension apart to try it.

A pair of angle kick pods work great in that truck, but to get anything much in it, you are going to need to flatten the rear cab wall to have some space.

Good luck with it, and have fun with it.

i was workin on it a while ago. measured it out. im going to probably do about a 3" drop in the front using cut coils. not sure if s10 drop coils would work, ill measure one at the junkyard. my spring is about 4-1/4" wide and 8-1/2" tall. i didnt count windings or measure thickness of the bar. and out back just going to do a block. its simple. going to have to section and plate the carrier bearing crossmember and maybe the tranny one as well. if i can get a wheel that tucks in a bit farther up front i can static lower than that. but the lower arm will hit the spring cup in 4-1/2"-5" of compression. thats without any bumpstop in there. but, i might trim that or something.

its already a 5 speed. its the W50 tranny, the old steel 5 speed. id like to put in a W58 if i can find one thats in decent shape, but mine seems to shift great so i dont care. ill just short throw this shifter and call it good. i need to do some sort of a console though.

and it has 6-1/2" speakers in the doors. im just going to replace those with new ones, and put a decent deck in. ill shave the back wall later and put a sub box. id like to put carpet in it, i found a molded kit for like 110 bucks on ebay. im waiting on my header and my weber to get here right now.
