are you guys talking about tipping the owner, or the guys who do the work? At the stereo shop I worked at for years, us installers always got nicely tipped for doing good, clean jobs. the bigger the stereo, the more custom the work the more personalized the service the larger the tip. This was always a tip that the customer gave directly to me or another installer.
Tipping the owner would be just dumb, he quoted the price or is recieving a majority of the profit, tipping a salesman is dumb he gets commision. But the installers, the real workers behind the scenes deserve a tip....and oh yeah a name drop when the vehicle gets featured in a mag would be nice!!! in my case I had a truck in Autosound and security years ago and my name was nowhere in the artical, but the owner and salesman were...sorry thats my rant

rule of thumb is to tip if they are providing a service. the guy that sells tvs isnt do you a service the guy that does the install does i would tip him if i had a tv delivered/installed. i worked at a hydro shop a few years back and customers would buy us lunch or dinner. the drug dealers would usually tip if we did something quick for them or got the job done before the qouted time

this is totally weird to me
in australia and some other countries tipping
is nearly non excistent (sp)
i still agree if someone has gone above and beyond
your expectations or has just excelled in their job
tip away, australia could do with some tipping becouse
customer service really sucks here compared to alot of other
countries
my 2 cents worth

i went to darwin a couple times last year & actually got yelled at for tipping...i didn't know it was considered offensive. it's like that in lots of germany & amsterdam too

I vacationed in Europe some last year...not much tipping their either. Germans are actually offended by it..or so we were told. Which I found odd b/c there are alot of german-americans in this area...and they are known for being very good tippers.

I can't believe some of you base your decision to tip on what someone's pay scale is or if they "turn wrenches" or not. ???

TIPPING IS allowed for anyone who does you an excellent job. It doesn't matter if they were charging for a $3000 paint job (which I got a tip for) or hanging drywall for $1500 which I gave a tip for, or cutting your hair for $15 which I tip for.

Show some class and GIVE A TIP to ANYONE who's gone above and beyond. Even if it's a gift of a 6-pack or something, acknowledging you appreciate their work is always going to come back to you.

^^^^^^Good call!

I for sure will tip the guys that balance my $3000 dollar wheels with out missing them up. I also have been known to tip the inspection sticker guy that gives me a sticker when i fail inspection.
